Thanks ladies. I just hope my girls understand why I work so hard and can't make every school play etc. I'm hoping one of them will join me in the salon one day
Lynn amber I read an article about population growth etc, I will try find it.
I know in my area the last census predicted that by 2020 their will be more retired people than working people. That's because people are having less children whilst we have a rapidly ageing population, that live longer due to better medical care.So it's looking like we are not going to have enough people to look after the older generation.
I'm not upset, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I cannot be offended by simple minds. How we benefit from having 9 children? What a ridiculous question. I'm not even going to bother answer it. How we live and our beliefs, are totally different to the next person. I am a Mother Earth, hence we go forth and multiply. I nurture my children and they are respectful and loving individuals. I could ask for no more. I do not burden my older children with their younger siblings. We as a family are One Love and united, so please save your pity for someone that needs it.
As for Christmas - we as Rasta do not celebrate this made up day. Our festivities are celebrated at other times of the year. Unfortunately they are not recognised in the UK.
Enough of this Babylonian rubbish talk. I'm off to dish out INI family ital rice and peas and vegetables.
I'll stick to ini Rasta forum from now on. There we are not frowned or looked down upon.
Rastafari
Who's actually offended here? I'm not. You can call me simple, judgemental, rude, and whatever else you see fit all night long if you like - I have no personal problem with you having 25 kids if you want them..... as long as I don't have to pay for them! But you are not the only one in the world with nine children you just happened to be on here talking in a thread about having nine children. Do I agree with NINE children. NO. but that is my opinion... and I also have a strong opinion of the wording "I am a Mother Earth, hence we go forth and multiply"..... there are a few different connotations to that phrase that I can think of.
I will turn my nose up to anyone that pulls the racist and sexist cards when they see fit. It seems to be ok in your eyes to tell us Christmas is a 'made up' day and your fesitvities are at different times of the year and not recognised in the UK.....I find that hard to believe as we cater for EVERYONES religion on this island, regardless whether we agree to it or not!
I don't care if you're muticoloured or multiracial we are talking about nine children who can not possibly (in my eyes) have the same privelidges as a family with two children...who loses out here..in my opinion - the children. Maybe we should agree to disagree on this one... and the world is not 'one love' or 'united' as much as you would like to believe it is.
I just wonder why everyone gets child benefit anyway? It's our CHOICE to have children I don't see why we should get money for it. Or they should cut it down to you get it for your first child and that's it.
Also I don't see why the UK has to recognize EVERY holiday for every religion/culture. We have our own and they have there's; do Rasta's celebrate our 'made up holiday,' in their countries? I doubt it.
How did you all work out when the right time was to have a baby? My mam keeps telling me your career stops at the point when you have children. So I can quite see myself putting it off forever XD
What's with the dissing?
In our culture the 25th dec is not an accurate date for the birth of Jesus Christ. According to the bible, the 7th Jan, is the more accurate date. This us when some Rasta tribes celebrate Christmas.
Rasta is world wide, so I don't know what your going on about.
Why shouldn't the Uk recognise different cultures celebrations? I thought this country was supposed to be inclusive.
I also wonder how many of you actually go to church in the year, read your bible, prayer before meals at bed time etc? Or are you all to busy getting caught up in presents, stuffing your faces with Turkey, getting pissed etc, to even give a s*** about Jesus?
This country DOES NOT recognise Rastafari. Although it is not a religion, but a way of life, it should be recognised.
Schools do not recognise our festivities, nor on any form I have ever had to endure filing in, has ever given Rastafarian and option in the 'faith/religion' section.

Kristalinx that isn't true. I finished studying beauty, done my placements and always worked while having my kids. My eldest is now 9 and I now have a salon, which was my goal, so I can honestly say it hasn't stopped me. Along the way I also worked other jobs to help pay the bills such as cleaner, bar work etc. I never had any family help, but found an amazing childminder. Where there is a will there is a way xx

You do have a problem, otherwise you wouldn't keep blabbing on about it.
You obviously have no idea about Rastafarian culture, so you are ignorant to how we as a people live. Rasta people are all about spreading love and positivity. I assume your perception of us are dirty matted hair and ganja smokers!
I have just asked my 19 year old daughter to read through this thread, and she is appalled by some of the comments on here, especially from you. She is now offended too. Yes, you are a very small minded person.
My daughter can also vouch she has not suffered in anyway for having siblings, and thankful for life, health and a family that share love.

I don't give a damn what you think of me for having 9 children. I'm still with my partner - father to all of my children, and very very happy with our lives.
It is One Love in our world. Keep your eediot opinions to yourself.
