Hi geeks :) I am at my wits end as I have been doing nails now for 1yr I trained with CND last june and since then have done nothing but practise and work work work, to the extent that I have now got a really good mobile client base and I work on average 4 days from 10 -10 . I am having to turn clients away as I have two young children and partner whom is an accountant and currentley re-locating his offices, so I am having to be housewife worker and everything else (as thats what we do lol)

I have done my foundation then done a 1-1 then done my lift prevention then my enhancment rebalancing and to do my custom colour blending later next month as part of my masters route, all within 1yr, I have a passion for nails have every book, and I am fascinated with not just nails also the chemistry side.

However I dread doing new sets, I sculpt on a form whenever possible, but when doing full set will still take me up to 2hrs? although my problem free rebalances (which most of my client base is) are in this catorgory only take me 1hr 20mins, I get so frustrated with new sets as difficult nail shapes etc just seem to faffle me(is that a word lol) I dont know if it because I am learning new techniques all the time and I am constasntley scrutinising my work, much to the extent I done a new client this week and I was so unhappy with the set of nails I done I have re booked her for this week, although she was happy I knew they would not last and I should of tipped insted of sculpting on form, I would rather be happy with my work than get the money.

So I suppose my question is should I not worry about my time for full sets? and just continue to be a perfectionist as I am lol, or how can I speed things up, I have tried speeding my prep up but to be honest I do a dry prep mostly, it's more my form fitting and z1 when doing fll sets I would say, I strive for a very smiley smile, all my clients comment on how everyone says how there nails have a lovely smile curvey smile.

Sorry to waffle guys,,, thanks xx

your infil time is very good if thats for p/ws. and thats not a bad fullset time for someone at your stage, it is totally the quality that counts. i can see why you would like to cut your time a little as being mobile really does extend the treatment time when you are travelling to and from clients as well.

you might find that if you tip your full sets in stead of sculpting it could cut down time a little. i sometimes find people tend to sculpt thicker and longer and wider than is necessary and thus take longer to file it all to length and shape at the end.

if you use well less tips to extend and cut the length acurately and shape side walls then, when you apply your product it is very little finishing work to refine zone 1. you could even use white tips with a decent smile line and put your white powder directly over them to speed up doing your smile line as the shape is there to guide you.
a very good well less tip can be purchased really reasonably from proimpressions.

after a while you will find you rarely do a new set because your clients will only be having maintenance treatments.

I agree with Susan, there is nothing wrong with your timing considering you have not been doing nails that long relatively speaking. Your infill time is excellent and certainly has a lot to say for the quality of your new sets and previous infills. I would be delighted if I were you. Don't be so hard on yourself. Faster times will come with a lot more experience, there is no race going on after all!

Well done my darling, you are doing just fine!!:D

Thanks guys, I think I am putting to much pressure on myself, I have noticed when I have new sets and there nails are lovely condition and great C curve, llong nail beds etc I find these a breeze and they look fab when finished, however it's the sets with fan nails or very flat nail beds, which takes me longer. Some days I can do a new set no probs in just over 1 hr 15 and other days takes me 2 hrs. I do think as you said when I become more confident and experienced in dealing with clients and knowing when to just apply a tip, this will come.

Dont you just love the clients whom listen to your advise and use solar oil, omg its such a joy to do clients nails when they been maintaining them at home with solar oil, it take very little time to file down the enhancment ready for new product, I get sooo excited when I see my clients nails come back with no lifting chipping peeling, no noticible gap where needs filling, etc after 3 weeks, just confirms I have got length etc right for my clients lifestyle, and they are listening to me and using there oil at home, I have mini oils I give to regulars sometimes, and they always always buy another when they see how much difference it makes to there nails, quicker appointments and nicer nails :) lol xxxx

You are doing so well my darling, just relax and enjoy it. We all have some clients with problem nails and we all have to concentrate just that little bit more. Do you pinch the sides of the nails? I found this helped so much with shape and C curve on fan shaped and flat nails. On flat nails you just need to watch your apex as well. But you know this! Your speed is just fine! :D
