Hi everyone, im new to this site and was after a little advice about infilling creative acrylic nails...whilst i dont have a problem with lifting usually, i have had a few occasions when the acrylic has chipped off at the cuticle and because the rest of the nail looks fine, im reluctant to soak off and start again...although i file down the old acrylic before "patching up" with the new, a faint line is still visible where the old acylic meets the new...any tips would be a great help, im losing sleep over this and im sure theres a solution! lol

Is this on your own nails or a cleints?
Not sure If I have picked you up right, but if the L&P has chipped I would say it has lifted and then caught on something? or if its a client there may have been lifting even very little then they hav picked? leaving it looking like it had chipped. The line sounds like you have'nt filled the product down enough, there are loads of great tutorials on here by geeg on how to and there is one for infills too xx

thanks for the quick reply, im refering to a client ive had for a long while who works with horses and never really looks after her nails in my opinion, lol she comes in with all ten still attached but more often than not shes got some chipped off at the cuticle..i think shes a picker, but when she comes into the salon with 3 to 4 chipped, im reluctant to soak off and start again, and she always prefers me to "patch them up" rather than soak off.I think im filing enough away? i never see the line before putting the new acrylic on...im baffled, but eternally grateful for your advice, thank youuu!:D

well sounds like she is either picking, or perhaps it is catching. The trick is to file above the lifting and as the chipping will be uneven this is why you are having a line left? I would say as with filling off lifting to file above where the chipping is if you know what I mean so you are not chasing the lines so to speak. Have a search through the tutorials on here and I'm sure it will help xx

i dont know if i picked u up right, do you mean filing the acrylic before the cracked edge, so it just flakes off? its a shame i cant draw you a diagram of what i mean.lol

yep exactly that otherwise you would spend ages chasing the file line I used to do that until I read a tutorial or 2 or here lol xx

aww, thanks, it makes sense to me now, cant wait for miss chip to come in again now so i can try it, lol, i found the tutorial about line chasing and it explained alot, thanks again sarah, youve been a great help.xxx:D

Maybe you also need the product thinner at the cuticle, more flush to the nailbed. And look into your prep.

I have horse girls too, even biters with horses and no lifting at all, once in a while maybe a broken nail, but never lifting....

I agree with both Sarah and Karen. If you sort both of these things out and remember to make sure you remove cuticle etc from exposed nail, you will be fine and have perfect nails. Even a picker will have trouble lifting a well placed nail! ;)
