Hi
I want to get all my client addresses tel no and emails onto a database system but I don't know what to use. I want to be able to use this to do envelope address labels as I do alot of mail outs but I want to be sure first that the two are compatible.
Thanks
Lauren

If you have the MS Office Suite, Access is probably your most user friendly database. It takes a bit of tweaking, but you can definitely use the wizards to create something without needing too much IT know-how. Once you have a database, I believe you can import it to Word to create a mail merge document for labels. Also, the "For Dummies" books are a great resource if you need some extra help. hth Good luck! xx

Have a read of this......

Data Protection Act 1998*«*Business Law

We have a responsibility to our clients to ensure we follow certain guidlines when collecting & storing personal data.
Clients need to be given the option also to 'opt out' of receiving any future marking/emailing/mail shots etc

Thanks so much for that...good info to have. :D

Have you got over 65,000 customers? No - thought not! (well not yet - anyway!) :)

If all you are going to use it for is a simple mail merge - then MS Excel will do the job. However if you want to start recording when the customer had what treatment and managing them proactively i.e. mailing them when they haven't had a mask/massage/manicure for 5 weeks - you will need a database.

MS Word will then connect seamlessly with the spreadsheet to merge your mailings.

There are also free alternatives to the MS office suite.

I LOVE Open Office...I've used it before when I didn't have Microsoft. Brill programs.
