Is anyone else crazy quiet this week?

January was great for us...but Feb has been a bit of a flop.

This week has been the worst. Took £51 yesterday and £36 today. On Mons and Tues I can take up to £300 each day on a good week. Fri I only have one client so far, Sat I'm fully booked though? My BT has about 6 hours of consistent work on Thursday but nothing on Fri or Sat!

Funny how its can work out like that! Last week I had no clients on Monday and on the Tuesday I was fully booked, needed to turn away two cut and colours!

Is anyone else experiencing this?! Gonna do more leaflet drops as they worked fairly well before. XX

I was definitely much busier last week, but think it was the run up to Valentines and the school holiday weekend. I always go quiet over the schools holidays xx

Yeah half term is always quieter. My beautician has been busy but hair is quiet this week. After a week at home with the kids, the moms will be in need of some 'me' time so hopefully you will be busy next week

Where I used to work, I had a lot of clients who were teachers so we would be busy in the holidays...suppose I need to make the most of it...hopefully soon I'll be moaning about how busy it is!

Think I might send emails/texts out to everyone with a 20% off on Thurs and Fri. This sometimes works well for me. Gonna be starting recommend a friend with our March special offers and this should hopefully encourage some more people to come in! Some times I can't see past one quiet week and see I've had 5 busy months before now! And only one other week like this! X

You could target the teachers .... Im choco this week and in Easter hols .. I have alot of teachers and its the only times they can get in for hair appoints doctors dentist and beauty apart from sats they love it! !! xxx

What time do you open until? Our appointments have really picked up and we are booked up so much more than last month. We open til 9pm so the school holidays dont really affect us as they still come in when their husbands come home. I think this is the time they need a bit of 'me time' what with the kids at home driving them mad. So I definately think opening later helps xxx

We are doing low average at the moment, but this week has been good so far. Not as many people away skiing as usual maybe? It does seem as tho it's picking up on the big ticket stuff for us. I seem to be doing a lot of big colour jobs and hair ext at the moment. Things are starting to perk up a little round here (bonus time).
Also seeing lots of clients who traded down to cheaper salons last year. Retail is up significantly too.
Hold nerve everyone, it will improve.

From what you are describing, your salons are in an area similar to where I used to work..but where I am now, its more cut and blow dries than clients getting colours, I used to maybe have one or two CB's a day and the rest were colour, whereas now its mainly CB's and maybe one or two colours a day. When we are a bit more built up I am going to work on upselling to my existing clients. I find retailing very hard, mainly down to I never watched anyone do it where I was trained, my boss didn't like to retail at all (not really sure why...?)

Tomorrow is a bit better and I sent out an email to all existing clients and Facebook fans offering 20% off on Wed Thurs and Fri appts. (Just remembered I need to put a wee bit on the website too)

I open til 6pm most nights, 7pm on Thursday. I don't get a massive call to work late, I am lucky I don't have kids so I can start as early and finish as late as I like, but tend to get more requests for weekend appts. The girls who work with me are prepped that if someone wants a Sat and can't get it, to offer a late evening because I'm happy to do it.

I know its tempting, but try not to discount your work during quiet times. What will happen is
1. you simply earn 20% less
2. people start seeing you as a discount hairdresser and wait for/ demand a discount.
When you are competing with other salons you will have far more long term success by being great at what you do, rather than cheaper than the others.
I love retailing and sell on average 2 products per client that I do.
Find a range that you love and believe in, use it all the time and I just tell my clients what I need them to use between salon visits. Simples!

we are busy this week and were last week but so far next week looks horribly quiet... I think its still a bit hit and miss after christmas. things should settle down and become more steady soon!

Silly quiet this week, so much so I've got a note on the door and taken a day off.:green:
Next week is going to be silly busy, I think it's a case of 2nd month of the year wages going into the bank next week.

Well after me moaning, I had a big colour booked in today last minute, and a regrowth decided she wanted a full head fiol as well as regrowth, so its not all that bad!!! Funny how some days are so busy, some days are dead. If I ever take a day off thats not supposed to be a day off, I divert all calls to my mobile. Its not too expensive and it means you can still book people in xx

One did, from old flyers we put out. But shes in a big group of people so hopefully by bagging her I'll get all her friends cos her hair was looking fabby when she left (if I do say so myself...)
