We are due for a rerun and a rejig on our brochures and its always at this time that I wonder whether we should be raising our prices. My accountants say YES its time to do it. If any of you have, what % increase have you done? We set up in 2007 and so we have been through a couple of years of hard slog, we have grown significantly and now employ 7 staff and are gaining a great reputation, but I also appreciate that a price rise is also part of developing and growing a business. Thoughts please

i normally put a pound on every treatment every year, so a pound on cut and blow and same on colours x

i had a long overdue price rise in january . i do mostly maintenance treatments and added 10 % to the cost.

i lost no clients at all in fact many commented on how long it had been due and one even said if £2 was so crucial to someones budget, then they shouldnt be getting their nails done in the 1st place.

im about to do one myslef and im not sure how much to increase it by without clients running a mile

I've put mine up £2 this year, pretty much across the board, except small treatments, which have gone up a £1. No-one's going to miss an extra £1 or £2 a month, but you'll certainly notice how it adds up at the end of the month when everyone's paying it!

We put ours up every September by a couple of quid. I also had to put 21/2% on in Jan due to the vat rise. I was surprised at how much that added.

i put it up £5-10 in jan on my mobile and salon prices

I usually put my prices up every year on certain treatments, but this is the first year that I've decided not to do so. With the recession that has been going on...! wanted to freeze my prices this year, but will definitely be putting them up next year as normal and have told my clients already. Times have been hard for everyone so wanted to reflect this by "not" putting my prices up!
