Which brand of pads do you use??
Caress in 200 pack size or something else.

Thanks
x

caress from sallys...the 200 pack.

Me too, I do use other pads for cuticle work or wiping off inhibition layer if I've run out but IMO Caress are the bees knees:)

I use the Gauze pads from Sweet Squared. I could not use cotton pads. First I wouldn't risk the fibres and second, the gauze pads are so quick and effective at both polish removal and scrubbing the nail with Scrub Fresh. Of course they are lint free.

As for the papery ones ... can't bear the feel of them or how they get slimy with polish or crumble to bits with sanitiser.

Don't know the Sallys ones, but couldn't be bothered to get in the car to go and get them never mind the extra cost in petrol.

I find the Caress ones a bit fluffy, especially if I'm giving a good scrub to the nailplate. I must try the gauze pads.

I use "Nail Techs Choice" gauze pads from Ellisons.

They are significantly cheaper than the gauze pads from any of the other suppliers, yes you can get the ones from Sallys which are about the same price but they are of poor quality in my opinion.

Ordering from Ellisons only really has one drawback but provided you are smart with your ordering and keep on top of your stock control it isnt a problem. Ellisons charge for delivery for orders under £100 ex-vat which of course can cancel out the saving you have made. So, to benefit from their cheap prices you need to save up your order till you have over £100 to spend. I buy my gauze pads, couch roll & toe rope, which I order in bulk to get the bulk purchase discount, also if I need any CND items at the time of ordering I add those on to get over the £100 threshold.

It might seem like a lot of money to spend on gauze pads, but if you are running a full time business, you are going to use these items in a reasonable time anyway, and by ordering in bulk you can get them for half the price you would get them elsewhere.

Is nail tech choice Intrinsics? I use these even tho they are costly as I hate lil fibres and these are gauze pads and perfect. I do use lint pants for mani n pedi as its so much cheaper but it doesnt really make sense as you use at least 5 for each person! :irked: and like Geeg says they crumble in your hand and feel weird!
Caress def leaves threads behind and I just cant take it when doing gel!

Now, I find that really interesting. I use gauze pads when doing L&P but always use Caress for gel as it is the only one that doesn't leave fibres IMO.

Different stokes for different folk I guess:)

Im afraid I have given up with them all, I use Bounty kitchen roll cut up into squares...x

I've just done a set of gel toes using caress and I have to say that they were beginning to annoy me with the little fibres.

I'm going to get some gauze for the gels for the future.

I certainly do not find the gauze pads expensive to use and for the ag it saves I wouldn't use any other.

As for price, I think the S2 price is as reasonable as any. It's just one of those things that may be more expensive than cotton pads from the supermarket (and lord knows the last thing I would spend my time doing to save a few pennies is cutting up kitchen roll of an evening!!) but my goodness it is worth it and is included in my cost price for enhancements anyway so the customer is paying not me.

Don't others take the cost of the consumables they use into account when making a price for nail enhancements??? I mean, how do you determine your prices for goodness sake; by what Suzie Q charges down the road?? No wonder so many of you penny pinch if you have not done cost of goods when determining your set prices.

(and lord knows the last thing I would spend my time doing to save a few pennies is cutting up kitchen roll of an evening!!)
Actually I don't cut kitchen roll up to save a few pennies, I do it so I don't have horrible little fibres in my gel and on my brush, and as for the time it takes, I wouldn't say I spend any longer on cutting them up than I do picking out the fibres...and I also have the added advantage of not getting annoyed while I'm doing gels...:)

I have never had a fibre to pick off my gel when using gauze pads so I win both ways. I waste none of my spare time or work time and time is $$$. It's not worth really discussing ... you have your way and I have mine you may not change and I certainly wont.

Now this is interesting, so I experimented today as I was doing a set of gels.

I usually use a paper waxing strip to wipe my brush on but had run out and this is where I find a caress pad handy.

As I have now stocked up on waxing strips I did the whole procedure with gauze pads and had no problems :)

I use gauze pads from Ellisons and also the recently new honeycomb pads by Graham, the same company who do the Hands Down pads, both get the thumbs up from me and both are totally fibre free but the gauze pads are cheaper and therefore more cost effective :D

LOL that's just what I was thinking:)

depends on how near your local sallys is........mine is right next to Tesco's so when i go get my food shopping i pick a couple of packs up ... no going out of my way and no extra petrol cos i would be going there anyway.

Lucky for you Angie but not typical ... there is still however your time involved.

When I order I want to do it quickly in one go one call from one source at one price.

I hate food shopping too. One trip one supermarket once a week.

Seems allot of retired people here in Spain go to 3-4 different supermarkets for different things. It's their life and they love telling you where you can get this and that!! God, I could not be bothered to do that. If the supermarket doesn't have what I want then I get something else. Why do peeps want to spend their time like that?? Not this chica.

Made me laugh - believe me, if I could buy petrol 'on line' I would:green:
