Hi, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on my own skincare (I haven't done my level 3 yet)

so, I have combination skin which seems to be getting dryer. On my T zone this isn't a problem but on my cheeks this causing some milia / whiteheads to form. My skin is usually clear,I have a couple of enlarged pores on my cheeks which have been there for years.

At home I use products that are PH balanced and for sensitive or combination skin, I'm very careful not to strip my skin of its natural barrier. I use spf every day.. exfoliate once or twice a week etc..

I thought that microdermabrasion sounded like a good idea for me? I figured that if I had that done then I could continue with my skincare regime but benefit from better absorption of my products....

I rang a salon and they had something called a resurfacing facial, I asked if it was microdermabrasion but she was unable to tell me what actually happened - maybe she was just a receptionist? But she pretty much just read off of the price list, agreed that it would be exfoliating and then asked me if I had problem skin. I said I didn't really but have combination skin and some whiteheads in the dryer areas.. she recommended a dermalogica medibac facial..

I have never used dermalogica and I am slightly curious about why so many salons use it. As far as I am aware the medibac facial products are for acne prone skin? It sounds very drying which I am trying to avoid.

Basically (sorry for the rant)
- Do you rate dermalogica?
- Would you recommend microdermabrasion to me ?

I highlighted the main points incase all the writing scared people off
I've applied for level 3 general this September so cant wait to find out for myself :)

You have a few issues. Dry/combination/spots.
Dermalogica is great as they have so many products and they mix and match for you.
The best thing is whilst treating say the spots it won't make the dryer parts dryer. Off the shelf products a to solve one issue and therefore can start up or irritate another.
I used medibac clearing gel only spots and it's the best spot beater!
Trust your therapist receptionists don't know much.
Highly recommend one! Or many !!

Microdermabrasion would begreat for u, especially for the dryness. Itt cannot be used over active breakouts. Medibac facial wwouldn't be suitable for you. Suitabl e for acne prone skin but you could use.clearing mattifier to reduce enlarged pores. Overnight clearing gel on breakouts. daily micrfoliant is a brilliant exfoliant. Gentle enough for everyday use or as needed. Exfoliation is important to keep dry patches and milia at bay.

If you go to a Dermalogica salon that have Dermalogica skin specialists (not just certified therapists) they will be able to customise a Dermalogica treatment for you, you may be booked in for a Medibac for instance but after you have a consultation & skin analysis (the Dermalogica way) you may be advised not to have a Medibac or the therapist may use different forms of exfoliating treatments - until your skin is analysed the therapist won't decide what products will be used as all Dermalogica treatments are prescribed and not always the same twice, Dermalogica also do a skin resurfacing treatment called Active Resurface 35, a highly active treatment yet gentle too with minimal redness- if any. Microdermabrasion is suitable for acne, acne scarring, fine lines & wrinkles, open pores etc, instant results for a smoother skin but skin needs down time afterwards due to erythema.
Ps I highly rate Dermalogica treatments (if you get a great therapist) and the products work! I've used many in my 18 years. Microdermabrasion is also a good treatment.

Beauty xperts is there a way of knowing if the therapists are skin specialists or just certified, I really want to use the correct products but the last lady didn't ask me about my skin at all and hardly looked at it I have suffered acne for years abd used medical creams so I want to get moisture in my skin and im now worried about anti aging, but I am still prone to breakouts so I really want to talk to someone who knows their stuff. Do dermalogica have a list of qualified specialists like CND shellac locator? That would be helpful. Sorry to hijack your post.
