Hi peeps

I have a client who booked in for a course of Microdermabrasion to combat an area of pigmentation at the sides of her mouth and chin.

The treatments are working well and we have both noticed a vast improvement in the appearance of the pigmentation.

However, she's due to have her 5th treatment this week and when she came last week, the area at the sides of her mouth have become a bit dry and flaky, she says its not sore, just a bit itchy and she is keen to carry on with the Microdermabrasions as they are working and she is getting married beginning of June but obviously doesn't want dry flaky patches on her wedding day.

I am combining the MDA with a luxury facial so I am applying hydrating masque, moisurisers and products.

Any advice guys?

Some flakiness/peeling is normal after a dermabrasion treatment. A week between each treatment is a little too early though. The skin needs time to recover before it gets hit again.

i would sggest fortnightly microderms and retail her 14% vitamin c serum and hyaloronic acid moisterizer have you thought about using aha kojic or jessner peel for pigmentation

Hi I use the crystal clear Microdermabrasion on my clients and with weekly treatments tis has not happened to any of my clients, do you think your client may be applying something to aggrevivate the skin at home such as moisturiser containing AHA. I think weekly treatments are needed to combat pigmentation, if there is no pimentation on flaky areas you could try not treating this area hth.

Hi all

Thanks for all your replies, when she came today the dryness had gone down. I did avoid that area last week and used alot of extra hydrating products on her and have to say there is a big improvement on the area of pigmentation.

Elain01, I agree with you that weekly treatments are required for pigmentation. She is only using the products that she purchased from me so I know that these are ok. She is delighted with the results she has received from the treatments, she has her last one next week before her wedding and has already decided she is going to continue with a maintenance programe after which is great as she never followed a skin care routine before she came to me. ( always makes me smile when I get great feedback from a client):D
