Hi all
I was just wondering what you think about using a different systems uv lamp, for example bio scupture, to cure brisa nails..?

I have the oppurtunity to buy a cheap bio sculpture lamp, but I was thinking of going with the brisa system.
I am just starting up my at home based salon.

Also, if I decide to go with Brisa, can I use other/cheaper primers, glue etc, aslong as I stick with the same main gel products??

Im just trying to work out if its cheaper to get the whole starter kit, or just look on ebay for different bits and peices.

Thanks for your advice and experiences!

Please do a search using the search option at the top of the page. You'll find there has been quite a few threads on this subject.
Here's what The Geek himself has to say about it....

Wattage has nothing to do with UV output just like gasoline doesn't determine how fast you can drive.

Some 9w lamps give off more UV light than 36w lamps! Wattage is the power consumption in order to operate the bulb/lamp. UV output is based on bulbs, their placement and the design of the lamp.

Only ever use the lamps that your manufacturer recommends!

HTHs!

Bev is right, please do a search on mixing products, or using diff brands

there has been a multitude of threads about it,

its not reccomended to mix brands, it will not give the desired results and could result in prduct breakdown or problems

Brisa can only be correctly cured using a Brisa lamp, so if you are looking into using Brisa as your Gel system then you must get the Brisa lamp.

As for other products, it is essential that you use the correct liquid bond with Brisa, but you could of course use a different brand of files/tips/adhesive (not glue)

Having said that please do not buy any professional products off of Ebay as you really can't be sure of what you are getting.

Just one thing to add by mixing brands you really will never be sure what you are getting and whether those products will work together, this would most likely result in problems with your enhancements which would most definitely result in very unhappy clients and if you are just starting out you really wouldn't want people to be unhappy with you and word of mouth will count for heaps.

Wishing you loads of luck

milly,
the problem with mixing brands is that, should there be a problem, you don't know which product is causing that problem. it's very hard then to know which one to replace!
good luck working from home. it's fabulous.

Im so sorry I didnt realise there was a search feature. But thank you for your replies!

No worries hun, welcome to the site btw!

A Bio Sculpture lamp is only 18W, and not strong enough to cure Brisa. As others have said....just not good practise to do so anyway

It is very important to know that curing of Brisa gels has nothing to do with wattage. Wattage is the amount of electricity the lamp uses.
Curing is all to do with the amount of UV output from your bulbs.

The Brisa bulbs have a larger amount of UV output in order to fully Cure Brisa gels.

Brisa gels need a larger output of UV for a full cure because the gels contain less photoinitiators (which is why there is no heat spike with brisa Gels ... unless the nails are trashed beore you apply the Brisa gel).

CND Brisa gels have many properties that other gels do not. One of the properties is that Brisa gels are hypoallergenic. Another is that Brisa contains No acrylates, No gluteraldehyde, No formaldehyde (all known alergens).

Thank for clarifying that Gigi....I was aware the UV Output was important, but not that the wattage didn't make so much of a difference...I thought the 2 were both important!

Now I know!
