Hi Hun

Can I ask what make of acrylic the guy used on you and was he a fully qualified nail technician? If I was you I would get your nails checked by your doctor for nail infections first and foremost, before you try anything yourself, just to make sure the yellow colour is nothing to worry about as its hard to tell without looking.

Did he use the drill on your natural nails? are they sensitive now?

cheers

For what amount of time have you had the nails removed OR in other owrds, how long have you been naked?

hi ya

i havent done nails for nearly 4 years now, but just wanted to help you, sorry if not much help, but id get them looked at if your nail plate is lifting etc.

hope others more helpful for you hun, im sure Gigi will be able to point you in the right direction
hugs:hug:

It is hard to tell without seeing them!!! But sometimes when i take my nails off my free edge is discoloured just from using tan etc. Do they feel spongy??? or does yer nail just look discoloured although if your thumb natural nail is lifting from the nail bed i'd maybe get your nail tech to have a look also get your doc to check it just incase!! As say it is hard to know without looking at the nail!!!!

so were the nails discoloured when you first took off the product, or is it only recently? have i understood correctly that you had the product removed about a year ago ?

Your nails should not still be lifting or yellow after all this time.

I would see your GP or a podiatrist and see if they can take a culture from under your nail and make sure it is nothing fungal.

A fungus is rare but not unknown on hands but would tend to be gooey and smell a bit cheesy (sorry but it does).

Another contra action to the drill being used on your natural nails could be permanent onycholysis and in this case, the lifted nail could just be discoloured by smoking, squeezing out tea bags, make up etc.

Best get it checked out so you know.

hi thanks every one i will go docs cause i dont smoke and dont drink tea my nails were perfect till he staring putting them nails on and with the drill i personally think it is the drill think he just knackered my nails but they are hard and dont smell it is like there is nothing under part of nail.

Ah ... well that tells the story, I expect. Permanent onycholysis due to burning of the nail bed beneath the plate with a drill. Sad news. Best thing you can do to improve the look is to wear enhancements done by a real professional who will nurture and care for your natural nails.

Deb - Geeg is the most experienced nail tech you will ever come across and has more experience with nail enhancements and products than most of us have had hot dinners, so as Geeg says if they are applied by an experienced professional then your nails will not be damaged any further.

It is only the way your nails are treated by the tech or by yourself if they are not looked after properly that will damage your nails. A professional doesnt always use a drill and will give you guidance on how to look after your nails at home and with regular maintenance from your tech every 2/3 weeks you will love how your nails look with enhancements.

If you want good looking nails then it can happen but you need to take care of your nails too.

Good luck and let us know what you decided to do.

I think this is such a good thread. I have never learnt much about drills during my training thus far, so to speak of potential probs that can be caused by the use of them is very informative.

Hi I have had the same problem with few my clients and may I suggest a natural based gel like biosculpture or calgel, they are a lot kinder to the natural nail and I have seen major improvements to my clients nails after using overlays till the nails grow out again, Also use cuticle oil in the matric area often should help stimulate healthy new nail growth, take calcium magnesium supplements too.

I totally agree with OEY Hun, take Geegs advice, and also look at Bio gels or calgel or any good product, with lots of solar oil and TLC and I hope it improves(dont forget to get your doctor to have a quick look for any fungal infection etc first!

all the best:hug:

i'm afraid its rather misleading to say that they are natural based products.
all nail products are organically based.
it is down to the application and maintenance of the product that make it kind to the natural nail. this can be acheived with all products.
bio sculpture and calgel are great on nails as they are so flexible. this helps cushion any trauma and will help ensure no damage to the nail.

No they are not. All products are chemical based but they are all organic which I think is what you may have meant.

This is completely true.

Well it won't ensure no damage to the natural nail just because it is flexible. All nails can be damaged by trauma depending on the severity of the trauma.

The fact is that no system is kinder than another to the natural nail. It is only some nail technicians that are kinder to the natural nails than others. It has long annoyed me that Bio and Calgel mislead technicians into thinking that their systems are 'kinder' to the natural nail ... marketing hype to the uninformed.

yes, you are right, i should have read it back to myself properly before submitting it.
thanks for clarifying, and i'm glad you got the gist of what i was trying to get across.
