Alrighty geeks.... you can well imagine that this has been playing on my mind since Christmas morning when my 'hubby' finally got down on one knee after 9.5yrs and said we'd FINALLY make it official........

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO FOR MY NAILS on my wedding day?

I have thought and thought, and googled, and searched this site.... and no offense to anyone, but haven't found what I want, nor can do on my own (my wrong hand).

So, I ask of you (correction: BEG of you); to please come up with wedding nails for me, and take a picture of your idea.

These are the things that are to be considered :
- ABSOLUTELY NO french white manicures (we all know what a fusspot I am and how I detest them LOL)
- My nails are long and square (and my fingers are long too....) and I won't shape them differently:lol:
- My primary colours for my wedding are emerald & pastel/mint green, but my Maid of Honour is wearing lavender which will likely be in my flowers too (probably lillies or orchids.
- The Trinity Knot (aka Trisquelle, aka triskellion, aka celtic knot) is my theme

(these are two versions of it. It need not be on my nails, but could bear some consideration)
- AND the hardest part of all: I MUST be able to do it on my 'wrong' hand (in this case, my right)

You know how I like things original. I like to be 'different', BUT keeping in mind I am the bride, so they can't be too outrageous neither (I don't want to look back 20yrs from now and go "OMG what was I thinking" haha). Oh, what a mind-bender this is. :grr:

So, PRETTY PLEASE put forth all your ideas/experiments. No idea or experiment is too tame, nor too wild. EVERYTHING is to be considered.
I will GREATLY appreciate all your thoughts on this one.

Giant hugs to all of you

victoria, as you are a gel girl, you might like to try a technique i sometimes use on myself.

i use paper punches to cut out shapes from thin sheets of gel that i have cured previously on a form. you might be able to get a punch with your little symbol on or something similar.

you can then use these shapes to embed into your nails with clear gel over. you can add other bits and bobs too.

this would be something that could get a good result with using your left hand.

dont want much do ya (lol)

im sure if you dont look for it with such intensity, "it" will jump out at you, but i think you should go classic, with a twist, say summit like a blend of the colours you are having, and maybe get a decal or summit (even make your own decals) at least then you will beable to do exactly what YOU want -boring to you i know, but its just my opinion

what colour are you wearing though? are you wearing white or green? xx

Mint green/lavender marble effect with maybe some diamontes???

I'm wearing good old fashioned white

I love marble, but since I wear it so often, likely I wont for my wedding.

I like the cut-out gel idea... maybe I can get some 'ivy' shaped punches?

Or the decals.. that's a good one too for my 'wrong' hand. I don't think decals are boring, it more or less depeds on what's done with them I guess.

As for not looking with such intensity :lol::lol::lol:
I am so 'intense' thinking on every detail right now, when I go to sleep, it's like a hamster running a wheel in my head at night LOL

It's part of who I am, always been. I'm intense. I think and think and think and think until I go "THAT'S IT!!" hahaha
Some people think on the dress. I think on the nails

Thanks ladies!!
Keep the ideas coming:green:

What about a lacey foil?

I know exactly what you mean about going to bed and the mind racing! I was just like that when I was planning my wedding, it was nearly 3 yrs ago now and I can still remember every tiny detail that i'd panned, can't remember the church bells ringing tho but apparantly they did!!
Enjoy your day and savour every moment

Oh my, this exactly what I was thinking! This way, you can make whatever design you want on a paper, and then embed it in your nails!
You could try it with clear tips, too, and give the whole design a more "fragile" look!

What's a lacey foil??? I have coloured foil, but not lacy foil.

to Kellym
Oohhh I've always meant to try 'clear tips' on me, and never got around to doing it... that's an idea. And, that way, I could do something on ME that I've never tried.:green:

It's your everyday foil but looks like lace, I wore it to a wedding last year, my dress was gold and black so I painted my nails kinda like a gold/bronze and then used the black lace foil over the top, it matched perfectly! I've got it in white, black and pink.
I'll look for a link if I can find one :)

lmao What are you like........

Hi, congratulations on your forthcoming wedding. As I don't know you it's hard to give ideas and I've only just qualified myself as well. But I love having different looks on my own nails and my current favourite is crushed shell. It comes in loads of colours including white, which gives a mother of pearl type effect. Looks brill with clear tips.

Sorry if I'm barking up the wrong tree with the suggestion, but whatever you decide it would be lovely to see piccies of the finished article. Hope you have a fantastic day.

Regards
Flitch

Whoops, just re-read my post didn't mean to infer you had only just qualified, what I meant was that as well as not knowing you I had only just qualified. Sorry hope I didn't offend.

To Flitch,
No offense taken hun. I understood what you meant:wink2:
I've worn crushed shells before... I have a dozen colours. It is a lovely idea, but I'm thinking a tad more busy than that.:green:

thanks for your suggestions ladies!
Keep'em coming

GMTA! (Great Minds Think Alike :wink2:)

I have been searching a bit, but so far, they're too big and would look out of place. I have seen decals, but am waiting for a response as to the actual size of the decals.

To bonjovi,
I actually like the knotwork on the 2nd one, that IS celtic knotting.:green:
The 2nd one in the 2nd row has nice knotwork too!
Maybe if I 'frenched' it, doing a base of lavendar, and then applied the knotwork decal over the french? If that makes sense?
Where are those decals from? Which site?

MANY THANKS ladies:hug:

Will you get any Henna/Mehndi done on your hands/arms to match your nails? That would look fab! Especially if you use Celtic themes in the henna art like the Celtic knot etc...
