Hi everyone...I have a lovely lady booked for tomorrow, she is a nail biter, which is fine, but 2 of her nails are not only bitten and very very very short (must be her 2 favourites!)...the nail plate itself is very uneven, there is no way I can fix that with some buffing!!...

I will try but I dont know if I will be able to apply a tip...if not...can I try just building a nail with no tip?...

You could sculpt or use a tip for her nails. If tipping as long as you use a gap filling adhesive such as gelbond, it shouldn't matter that the nail plate is uneven.

hth:)

Doh, just re-read your post, do you mean; will there be enough nail to tip on?

hi...yes I think I have enough nails to tip on (given she hasnt been biting them even more!)...I asked her to try to control her biting for 2 weeks...so I ll see how they look tonight...

just worried about these two nails...they look like as if you cant tell where the nail finishes and the skin begins...i hopo they look better now after 2 weeks...fingers crossed ...I will take pictures and post them tomorrow...

I sometimes place a bead of pink on the bulbous skin and create more nail bed, I then either work with this, place a tip onto it or fit a form under. Most of the time I just work with it as if a clients nails are that short I dont want to give them any length at all.

I had a client like this a couple of years ago where you couldn't tel where the nail ended and the skin began. It wasn't until i went to push her cuticles back that i realised that was practically no nail plate left! It was really squidgy and soft, she'd been biting across the nail right through to the nail bed! ouch! I couldn't do them in the end because any sort of buffing was likely to make her bleed!
