Hi all, I'm batteling really hairy legs lol I'm naturally rather hairy but my half leg hairs are unreal! Sooooo many, so dark, huge roots, they're like beast hairs!
I'm swapping between waxing and shaving and neither really work. :(
I'm forever wearing trousers or maxi dresses but I want to wear shorts and go swimming when I wasn't too :(

When I shave on an evening I have visible dark stubble by mid day the next day! Even worse, if I apply fake tan my pores are even more visible.

My problem with waxing is I get mega ingrowing Hairs and I'm a pocket :( can't kick the habit!! I get only 2 weeks where i can wear shorts, dresses etc but even then I have about 15% random hairs growing. I can't get 4 weeks with ally hair growing through at once like most people can.

It's a tricky one but I'm hoping the answer is out there I'll feel so much better if I can be less gorilla more lady!!!

(I'm a beautician myself and wax myself)

You sound like an ideal candidate for laser.

You could try sugaring. Can remove shorter hair than waxing and may reduce ingrowns. I find hair regrowth is finer and sparser than waxing too.

I had the same problem. I did laser 3 times only legs and know I've hardly got any hairs and when I do wax no ingrowns. The doc used soprano laser I am so happy with it x

I agree with male waxing, try sugaring and make sure they 'hand sugar' rather than strip as you get a much better finish. You will need to have approx 3/4 treatments to start seeing results and you must step away from the razor!! Your hair will become finer, lighter in colour and with time start to diminish. It also exfoliates the skin so you will be silky smooth too. It really is a lovely treatment but then I would say that as it's what I specialise in 😉 HTH xxx

I loved my treatments with my sugaring practitioner! (She trained with Zahra.) Always enjoyed watching her hand sugaring action (twirling her sugar ball like a pizza chef - no she didn't throw it in the air!)

My regrowth is so soft and fine (particularly chest and abs) - I wonder how much this is down to the sugaring (I was a regular client for a number of years), must go back to her if I'm ever left with any body hair after modelling for the Axiom Wax Academy.

I'm curious as to how the hair is growing back finer with sugaring than waxing ? They are both pulling hair out from the root so how is it possible that the hair would grow back finer with one method ?

I'm looking into permanent hair removal and someone on my doorstep uses the soprano laser - might have to go for it!

I have to agree with sugaring. It's all natural ingredients so no chemicals, results last typically 4-6 weeks, hair re growth can become much sparser and finer, hair doesn't have to be as long as when waxing and it gently exfoliates your skin. Plus I think it's a less painful method than some others! I'm a sugaring practitioner and would obviously highly recommend this but as a previous poster said make sure you find a practitioner that uses the hand method 😃

Good question!

Good question!

For the sugaring that I had in Switzerland, the hair is removed in the direction of growth. So this might be the reason why.

If that were the case wouldn't tweezed brows grow back finer than waxed brows? And that's not the case ;)

It’s a good question and I don’t really know the answer but I have a theory…

The vast majority of my clients leave a sugar treatment with their skin looking like it’s barely been touched (minus the hair of course). There is virtually no redness, heat or tenderness the way there is after the same client has been waxed. This is, I think, because the hair has been removed in the direction that it grows and this cause less trauma to the follicle. The trauma of removing against the growth causes blood to go to the area to take nutrients to heal the damage causing redness and heat. After a sugar your body doesn’t even notice the fact the hair has gone so sends less blood that way so maybe less nutrients to heal and strengthen the follicle and therefore hair.

I am of course making this up as I go along and have no idea if it is indeed the case but kind of makes sense to me.

I would imagine that different areas of the body respond differently so can’t say about brows but it’s interesting that given the choice someone would chose to remove hairs with a tweezer in the direction and not against…maybe because they know it hurts less and makes them less red. I also think any kind of facial hair has a different set of influences in the form of hormones and err stuff.

I have no agenda when it comes to hair removal. I’m not associated with any brand. I have been doing waxing for 18 months now and sugaring for about 6. It doesn’t make any difference to me whether I wax or sugar. All my regular wax clients bar one have chosen to switch over to sugar from wax after just one treatment with every one saying it hurts less and a lot of them claiming their hair has grown back slower, finer or with less ingrowns.

Very interesting thanks for your reply :)

Does sugaring take longer ? How is it priced in comparison to your waxing prices?

I trained with Zahra too 😄

With regards to re growth, I have no clue why it grows back differently and there is no explanation in my training manual either.

No one else sugars in my area so when I set my prices I compared waxing prices for my area and have set my prices in the middle. I charge £20 full leg and £9 basic bikini line.

I find it takes a little longer than waxing especially new clients that are shavers but I find most people prefer the finish and find it less painful, so it has it's pros and cons like everything else xxx

My prices are the same. My product costs are far lower. One great thing about it is the sugar is wiped off with water so no oil to put on skin which I’ve never been keen on. The same applies to cleaning it off the floor, couch and equipment

The downside to sugar is that it does take longer to get really proficient at it but once you’ve mastered it you can do it about the same time as wax. You can also get shorter hairs than with the wax and I have now got some guys in every 3 weeks getting their back done so there is less of a “letting it grow long enough” wait.

I was sceptical about it at first but at the end of the day I’m just going on what my clients tell me and once my hairy lifelong Italian waxee said he wanted to stick to sugar because the hair grew back slower and softer then I knew I was on to a winner!

Sorry to OP for thread hijack…I’ll quieten down now!

Its something I have always wanted to learn.I bought a pot of hard sugar once to have a go with no idea and its not as easy as it looks I got in a right mess :).
I have used strip sugar on people that have been sensitive to other waxes I can quite understand your theory male waxing as to why the hair may grow differently after sugaring.

I love the sound of sugaring, do you need specific training and which wax so you recommend? X

You can use strip sugar withy a normal wax certificate but hand sugaring would need specific training just to be able to do it properly and effectively.Whether this has to be accredited or someone can just show you if you are already trained in depilatory services I'm not sure.Maybe it would depend on the insurance company.
You can buy hand sugar from most wholesalers if you want to try on yourself or you can even make your own.
