Hi Geeks,
I've discovered this wonderful site a week ago and i've read so many posts which are so helpful, thanks!
I have just started learning nails with EssentialNails and I've chosen Gel T&O first ... been practicing every day but here i got a problem, maybe anyone knows whats wrong.
Right at the finish, when i apply last thin finishing layer of gel + cure + remove sticky residue ... after I remove it my nail doesnt look shiny all over ... it has dull patches here and there, whats wrong?
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks a lot

You may be applying the product too thin. If you pull too hard and don't apply enough of the top gloss, you will get dull patchy spots.

Welcome to the site x
What system do you use? (not checked your profile sorry!!)
Sounds to me as though you are not applying the final gel step?
The finishing gel?
This doesn't need removal of any sticky residue.
Or is it that you are doing this but applying too much oil too soon?
OR is it not properly cured??
Maybe a bit too thick in places?

I use Dream Gel (UV Gel Uni-Phase).
I apply first (bonding) thin layer + cure + second (building) thick layer + cure then I remove residue and file if needed (in case of lumps and bumps) then I apply last (finishing) thin layer of gel + cure + remove sticky residue and after that nail goes dull in some places :irked:
I dont apply oil too soon
I cure first bonding layer for 6 mins then other 2 layers for 5 mins each.

Thanks Rikki,
I think i will try to apply finishing layer thicker ...:)

wow...its this what they teach you to do, sorry never used this make but thats a long cure time..and doesn't make sense to cure the thinest layer for longer than the builder layer..??

Naomi (Butterfly 100) trained with Essential Nails originally and was supplied with a 'trainer lamp' I remember her saying it was a 6 minute cure

hi im doin the same curse they say cure for that time as it's the trainer hand however i have the same prob with the last layer !!

I was having this same problem with my system and it transpired that i was transfering uncured gel from one nail to another when i was removing the dispersion layer cos i was using one nail wipe to do 5 nails. Now i use the 4 ply wipes and use a different side for each nail and it doesn't happen any more. Maybe try that?? (if you don't do it already!):)

you need to cleanse the nail after filing smooth to make sure you dont leave dust or skin oil on the surface or the finish layer wont adhere well.

Thanks to all of you for your helpful posts :)
I have tried doing last finishing layer thicker and it worked out :green:
Now I have shiny nail in the end without any dull patches. Phew!
