Hi, I started a L2 in Nail Treatments at our local college on Tuesday evening and our tutor said that a lot of the ladies could have ruined their brushes as they had tried them out at home:eek:? She explained that new brushes have to have something done to them before you use them??? is this right?

She didnt go into it as we were bogged down with paperwork, she just said she would show us what to do when we go back next week.
I am soooo glad I didnt have time to try my kit out! I could have ruined my brush.

Can the brushes that the ladies tried out and apparently ruined be recovered in some way?
What is it that we should do to prepare our brushes?

Your tutor is right, brushes must be broken in before you use them, and must NEVER be touched by your skin.
So keep your brush packaged away until your tutor says you are ready to take it out, don't answer your urges to get it out and touch it and play with it.
As for how to break in a brush... I think you should wait for your tutor to show you, as you shouldn't be jumping ahead of your education and playing with these kind of products before your tutor makes sure you know everything you need to, things can go wrong without the right knowledge.
Your course mates brushes may be able to be recovered, depending on how much damage they have done, or they may have to learn with a damaged brush which is hardly ideal. Your tutor is bound to look at them and let them know how bad they are.

Good luck with your training

Thanks for your reply :)

I wont touch my brush, promise:green:

Thats great, I'm glad you won't be ruining your brush as they are worth a lot of money.

I was never told that a brush needed to be broken in until I was onto my 3rd brush!!! You are lucky, your tutor sounds like she is serious about teaching you properly.

Take care xx
