Yesterday I had a new client.
She was referred to me by someone who must have approached me while I was out and about in the city, because I didn't know the person whom she spoke of.
Anyway...
This new client is a mature lady, but very 'with the times', fashion wise etc. She's also an esthetician/make-up artist, and she updates her education regularly.
She had first been to an NSS where they chopped her up. She then went to a tech who worked from home who claimed to have 15yrs in the busines....
I have seen STUDENTS do BETTER work:!:
WHAT A MESS:!:
I wish I had taken a picture, because the before and after was stunning.
But here is the best way I can describe the mess.
First off.. the acrylic was cloudy. None of the free edges were straight. They were thick as shovels. The sidewalls flared out into a wide mess that couldnt even be called flared nails. Just a mess. Apex.. what is that:?: No apex to be found and the entire surface lumpy, bumpy, with dips and slopes all over the place. One nail slanted one way, another slanted another way.. thicker on one side than the other along the sidewalls...
Ok, we ARE only human. And yes, sometimes we err. But ALL 10 nails were a nightmare. AND get this... the tech had applied acrylic to the UNDERSIDE of the nail She would apparently thin out the clients nails, and apply acrylic. What sort of craziness is that.
And rings of fire EVERYWHERE.
On the phone, I had said I could rebalance them. In the end, I filed them nearly completely off, but not all the way because the womans fingers were so very sensitive, and I didnt want to expose any hidden damage and heighten her sensitivity, so left a thin layer of acrylic on.
I sculpted a natural french, flashing only for 2-3 seconds per nail instead of 5 because she was getting spiked, and even 3 seconds seemed a bit much for her.
The end result was lovely, and very happy with them myself.
She was ecstatic because her sidewalls were straight and her nails were nice and narrow again. She said that the other tech would say its the fashion when she complained about the sidewalls.
She asked for a HUGE pile of my cards. She lives 20minutes away from me, and works another 20minutes away in the other direction, in the city. At a cosmetics counter in a pharmacy.
I apologized that they cost a few dollars more than what I quoted as it was more of a sculpt of a new set than a rebalance, but she said not to mind, that she could understand and could see all the work I had done. Probably the longest set I ever did, what with all the removal of old product and mess... 2.5hrs UGH.
I thought she was going to kiss and hug me LOL she was so happy. She bought some oil, and left a huge tip and has scheduled her fills for the next 2mths.
I just wish I could get my hands around the throat of the tech that battered her nails, whos giving the rest of us a bad name.:irked:
(sorry for lack of apostrophes and such. My keyboard turned french by accident, and I cant remember how to turn it back to english without turning off the pc, so instead of punctuation, it would appear as french accents LOL)
