Hi geeks

I am starting a 7 day training course next week and just wondered if anyone can give me some advice. I paid for a longer course because I felt that I didnt want to rush my training also I wanted to make sure I was competant ready for the assessment in april. Anyway they said I could purchase my own kit or buy one from them, I just wondered what you would all suggest to do, obviously they will charge more for thier kits which may not be the best materials but as a newbie to nails I dont know what the best products for a beginner to use are. I have bought a hand trainer just so I can get as much practice as possible when I have run out of live guinee pigs (my sisters, lol) anyway if anyone knows whats best please let me know. Also does anyone know what the best sites are to order products from?

I appreciate all your help geeks, anyway just to introduce myself, im kelly i have decided to go into nails as just something extra to do since I had my 6 mth old baby girl. I am now a single mum so as well as lacking confidence i need to socialise a bit more so I decided that I would do something I have wanted to do for a long time. I work part time in a pharmacy too so understand the importance of training and the best products.

thanks for any help and for taking the time to give any advice,
kel x

Hello Kelly.. welcome to the site...

Who are you training with...?

hey!

i like creative but thats just me, i've just passed my exmas on Monday 4th Feb so like you a newbie to this. i bought my kit from college and it was rubbish even the tutor said it was crap!!!!! i think it was "Nail Order" who we used, dont think i'll ever recomend them! i'd probs say get the college kit for now or just a starter kit from them as that is what the tutors will be most common with working with. hope this helps

Hi,
Welcome to the site... boy 7 days .... I did my course over 14 weeks! I did Gel and Acrylic and all the other stuff.... anyway the stuff we were supllied was rubbish... I eneded up chucking it in the bin and then buying a starter pack of creative... beleive me even praticing with that crap will get you know where.. they set fast or slow and you end up with thick crapy nails... once i got my hands on the creative it was like magic.... so sure practise with the crap and if you can master than once you change over you will be soooo much better... Also get a decent brush... nothing comes cheap in this idustry so you will be looking at about $70.. but very worth it as long as you look after it.. and don;t let anyone else use it.... the girls in my salon broke a nail and decided to use my stuff ( hair geeks)... as soon as i picked it up i knew... it was splitting and took me about half and hour to "re Mel" it.... not happy... they knew it too!

Take care and practise... i am still asking for help and reading and practising 4 years on,
X Mel
