Hey Everyone...not sure how to work all this yet..but im sure ill learn!
I've been having my nails acrylic'ed for the past 12 months and recently i've become interested learning the techniques to do it myself.
I have just left school, going back to 6th form, but i am considering starting up to earn a bit of extra cash for myself.
My nail technician said she will teach me some of the basics to begin with to see if i enjoy it as much asihope to do.
I just wondered if anyone had any tips on how to become succesful in this business? Please!
xx

Welcome to the site :D
Ive just started nails aswell & am loving it! When your technician has taught you the basics, are you going to go on do some sort of professional training? Cause i think youll need certificates/proof that you are qualified kind of thing, to be able to get insurance etc to work on paying clients :) im not too sure tho im also new lol, good luck with it x x

:)Hi and welcome to the site, I would strongly advise you to get professional training there is a lot more to it than just putting acrylic on nails, you have to know your products, you have to know the safety of using the products and without a professional certificate no company will sell you the products, it is a very enjoyable proffession to be in if you like doing nails, so I would think hard before letting your nail tech show you unless of course she is an educator. You can do a lot of damage if you do not know what you are doing. I hope I have not put you off but you do need to be proffessionally trained first. so good luck in what you decide:hug:

I agree with maguire do not go to your nail tech for training unless she is an accredited educator, she could teach you some bad habits,
you have the world at your feet, you live in Leeds so take advantage of the best training that you can get with the Creative nail academy in Leeds,
their number is 0845 210 6060 give them a call and have a chat and they will send out details to you about their training courses,
they are the only nail training provider to win numerous awards for their training hth

Don't worry you haven't put me off! My technician has qualified and has been doing it for 8 years I think? So I dont think she'll teach me any bad habits! I am going to do a professional course...I just wanted to practise first to see wether I "get the hang of it"...if I find it simple enough I will definatly do a qualification properly! I dont think I would trust myself to do anyones nails unless I wasnt!
Thanks for all your advice. :)

Hi and welcome to the site.......my tip for you would be save your money and do a course. A nail tech can't teach you all you have to learn now and again xx

Hello Jodie and welcome to the site :)

Hiya and Welcome

I think the worst thing you could do is to be trained by an existing tech first unless they are a certified trainer. Unfortunately, after 8 years any of us will have picked up many bad habits and it is easier to learn things the right way than it is to try and correct any bad habits that you were taught.

Believe me - doing nails is not easy, you will have sussed out that from reading some of the threads on here.

Good luck x x x
