Hi everyone. I've just finished doing an NVQ level 2 in Nail services. I feel as if I know the basics but that's it. We only covered l+p on the course but we didnt even touch on sculpting. I don't feel like I know enough to call myself a nail tech yet but i really want to learn. I was wondering if anyone can recommend any good training courses or just some general advice on how to get my skills and confidence up. I'm very willing to put time and effort into this I just feel as if I dont really know where to start! Ideally I want to run my own business. I know it's a long way off but I really want this. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing what you've all got to say.

Hi and welcome to the site.

There is lot of advice and tutorials on here and this question is one that is (and probably will always be) asked.

If you use the search facility and type in 'training' you'll be inundated with recommendations!

Also, do take time to go through the tutorials as they are an excellent source of information. i learnt loads when i was a newbie and you'll soon start to feel a little more confident. But the other thing i would say is don't push yourself too hard at this stage. Perfect your L&P first and then move on to another system if you so feel. There are many nail techs that only work with one system and they are no less a nail tech than those who know all three!

Take your time and enjoy - it sounds like you'll get there with a little patience!! xxx

NVQ 2 is a basis and only that. NVQ 3 in Nail Services takes it higher but always depends on the teacher you have! If it is one that just does the bare essentials and is not a true devoted nail technician then the progress will be minimal. Check out the teachers experience and qualifications and whether they work in a salon.

I suggest you take some good courses with some of the excellent product based courses that are recommended on here. As you've started with l&p concentrate on it for now and become really skilled at this and all natural nail services

Thanks I'll have a good look through it. I appreciate you advice. =) xx
