Hi,

Looking for some advice please.

I have just recently finished my sculpting training. Used the forms that were provided in my kit and they are great, no real probs with them, however, I since ordered what I was told were exactly the same forms only they are clear, I've given them a whirl and cant make anything of them they dont pinch in the same places as the others and worst of all when you take them off the print from the form is welded to the underside of the scultped nail? What I have done wrong to make that happen?

Thanks

i think the clear ones are usually for gel x

Clear ones are normally used for gel and for a beginner in sculpting these would be difficult to use with acrylic.
I suggest you contact your supplier and tell them you have received the wrong forms and I'm sure they'll be happy to replace tham with the correct ones xx

Although clear forms are primarily for gel, I use have used them for acrylics too without any problems.

I see that you are using Magnetic gel, so clear forms would be right for you if you are using opaque colours on the free edge as the gel will need to cure from the underside as well as on top to get a full cure.

Did you use 'normal' paper forms on your training? Were you sculpting out with white and did it cure ok?

Perhaps you should contact the trainer and distributor just to check it out?

I can only speak for the CND Clear forms as they are the only ones I have used....
I've never had a problem using them with L&P either. In fact, I prefer to use the clear forms as they are a bit sturdier.

I am not sure which brand you are using, but I am sure they aren't the CND clear forms, as the ones you are using sound like they have print on them... The CND ones don't, they are completely clear.

If I have understood your post correctly, then it sounds like the monomer is lifting the print from the form and transferring it to the underside of your free edge.
While you are waiting for a new stock of forms to arrive, why not try wiping the print away with some scrubfresh or a little acetone, before applying the form?

For the first time I used a clear form for l/p as I forgot to bring forms home with me and the l/p stuck to the form, I think as there was no inhibition layer and the forms are made of plastic the l/p was far too attracted to the form, twas a nightmare lol! Maybe it was just the type of forms I was using.

Yes, it must have been the type of forms Cathie. I use CND clear and when I first started sculpting I used to prefer them for difficult clients as I could manouver them easier.
