No toe nail!

My client has no toe nail on her big toe, what can I do to help?, is there a safe and successful way of attaching one? or is there a way i can build a new one?, or is it best/safe to apply nail polish to the skin to give an illusion of a nail being there?

My friend has no big toe nail & I made her some using l & p & she attaches them with strip lash glue if she's wearing open toe shoes.
