Hi All,

After seeing many threads on here about applying oil before waxing I wasn't shown this way just the talc way so I tried the oil application but find that not all the wax comes off the skin what am I doing wrong coz I didn't put much on atall?

Any advice happily received

What oil are you using? The oil should stop the wax from sticking, maybe you used too little. Too much and the wax would not have gone on well.

Hi I'm using good old baby oil is this wrong?

Thanks

I've not used baby oil, I'm thinking it may be too thick, I use my after wax jasmine oil by Perron Rigot, I used to use a Cetuem after wax oil. Do you not have another after wax oil or a lighter oil. Someone else may be able to tell you if baby oil is o.k. If you do a search you should be able to see other suggestions. I would think a bit of grape seed oil would work if you have any of that.

Hi

I did wonder about baby oil thanks for that I don't know where to get the products you've mentioned from? maybe sallys do them do you think? I use th ehive products for pre-waxing I don't know whether they do an oil though I will have a look

Thanks again

Thanks very much for that I've saved their website could I use grapeseed oil aswell do you think?:)

Might be best to check that with Andy (Axiom) or Kimmi (Wax Queen) because I know that I mentioned I had been using almond oil and Andy suggested that it was probably too thick, so I don't know if the same would apply to grapeseed.

I find blotting with a tissue after I've applied oil helps

Baby oil, almond oil and grapeseed oil will all do the trick, but it does take a bit of a play to get the right amount on the skin.

As Louise said, Kate, it sounds like you might be using a bit too much - you need just enough to create a very light sheen on the skin. If you find the wax slides about on the skin, blot with a tissue and try again.

Natural carrier oils have varying "weights" and will also absorb into the skin at different speeds, which will impact on how much you use and how often you may need to reapply during the service; almond, grapeseed and jojoba are ones I've used myself with success, but I would steer clear of the really thick ones like avocado though. Baby oil is a mineral oil and tends to give a longer lasting "slip", so you will need slightly less of this than the nut and vegetable oils.

In addition to the Perron Rigot jasmine oil that's been mentioned, Hive do a nice afterwax oil which you can also use beforehand, and Clean and Easy do a lovely prewax oil too. :D

Hmm i didn't think Beauty Express did the jasmine oil? Thought it was just a few of the waxes....

Either way they are a bit dearer than Thalgo so i would order direct from them if you want it.

I've just looked on Thalgo and it looks very expensive and I can't find Jasmine oil on there and not the size of beauty express anyway:rolleyes:

Can anyone shed some light on this one please?

Euroblonde 800g £13.00 Beauty Express, £11.00 Thalgo (goes down to £9.60 if you order a lot!)

Escential Monoi £14.50 Beauty Express, £10.00 Thalgo (Goes down to £8.80)

1ltr Jasmine Oil £15.00 Beauty Express, £12.00 Thalgo

Quite a big difference if you are ordering a lot & all the products have about the same price margin diferences.

Hope this helps everyone!
