Hi beautiful salon geeks! :) - this is kind of my first time on here so i hope I'm using this correctly!
Just wanted to to say hellooo!!:)
annnd, I want to learn some new massage techniques, like more deep tissue, remedial massage so i'm thinking about doing an online Massage course with Stonebridge Associated Colleges - has anyone used this Facility before? - what did you think??
I would love to do an 'in-class' course but because i live on a tiny island that is so far away from anywhere(!), the online course will just have to do!
thanks guys! xox

How about contacting a practitioner on your island and asking for their advise as how they trained, I would not think an online course would be able to show you the correct pressures to use.

That's what I would have thought; if I was going to learn massage, then I would want feedback from someone with experience that I was getting the technique right.

As there is only so much that text and diagrams (and perhaps an online video or two) can show you about a practical subject, without having someone present in the flesh to observe what you are doing and point out where you might be going wrong and need to make changes.

You would need to check that whoever you do a course with, they are properly accredited and you can get the correct insurance. If in doubt, contact your insurance provider and ask them. There have been many cases where people have paid money in good faith expecting to get a usable qualification, only to find they couldn't get insurance.
And I agree with weezie and Ruth Mills too, you really can't train properly with an online course. It's fine for learning theory, but you need to actually see and be seen doing the practical.

You may want to have a read of this thread before going any further with Stonebridge. http://www.salongeek.com/nail-geek/79788-help-need-get-refund-course-i-signed-up.html

I did a course with something similar once, it was BSY and it was not worth the time and energy spent on it.

I'm afraid nothing beats face to face training, and you would learn as much from a text book on massage as you would on an online course.

surely you would need to attend a class to qualify if you did proceed with this?
