Hi can anyone tell me if they frin it easier to paint bows on with a brush or using a dotting tool. Never done them and a client wants them so have to start practicing asap x

You could be sneaky and get a Konad plate with bows or buy 3d bows or does she specifically want them painted?

I'm not very arty and find it much easier with a dotting tool :)

I use a really thin brush to do 2 lines then join them with 2 diagonal lines ;)

Where can you buy the 3d bows from? Can you adhere them with nail (edit: I can't delete the word glue I ment adhesive) ;-)

glue?

You can buy the bows for like 99p on eBay ... Just beware that they come from Hong Kong so can take a month.

Xx

You can buy the bows from uk sellers so you get them within 2-3 days for around £2.50- £4

Although they have a tendency to ping off, I shellacked my nails last night and applied with topcoat and it came off this morning so I used done nail adhesive and it's still on so I wouldn't advise adding onto a topcoat. X

This is the finished result, apologies for pic quality. You just need to keep practicing techniques to see what works best for you :)

Painting bows is really easy two sideward triangles points meeting in the middle and then a dot or gem for the detail of the bow with little lines for the dangling ribbons x

I love 3D acrylic bows but am learning to do my own as they stay on the nails rather than use adhesive and have them fall off x

[QUOTE=Nails
I adhere them onto a blob of clear acrylic and they never come off!

I tried to do bows last night by painting them on with a small brush, really, they were soooooo bad! I guess practice is the answer.

I have 3d nail art, it comes off too easily and looks a mess afterwards.

I would say painting is the way forward so use the smallest brush you have and practice loads.

Good luck, I'm going to try again tonight so will post for you.

xx

I draw a dot in the middle using the bottom of my brush, paint 2 diagonal lines from each side and join, repeat on the other side. Redraw the dot if it has become misshaped.

Then I outline with black. Always, it makes the bows look more 'bowy' in my opinion.

They're generally not strong enough to hold the bows you need acrylic mine don't budge with it :)

I love doing bows and have done a few different ones. :)

These are very similar to what a client has asked me to do...did you hand paint them with a dotting tool?
They look beautiful :)

These are the bought bows but I found that they stood out a bit too much, they stayed on her pretty well though.

I struggle to get them off lol! Acrylic works great to stick a 3d bow with.
