Question number 1 - My paraffin wax pot just died so i need a new one. I brushed it on, but in your opinion, is a bath or spray on one more soothing or better in any way??

Question number 2 - How do you remove the wax? I usually remove with hot steam towels but i always manage to make a little bit of a mess. Any advice?

Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks. Geeks to the rescue!!!

hiya, i too brush on, didnt realise there was other methods. As i wrap the hands seperatley in plastic bags then with a warm towel, i remove by pulling the wax off hands in one piece, start from the wrist and pull down. 9/10 times it works but i too can make a big mess. Would be greatful for other tips too.

Not at all i think you can now get some lovely masks in some very good pedi ranges and if you use hot booties they work just as well without the mess.
You can put paraffin wax in a suitable plastic bag and scrunch it around the hands or feet and cover them in towels or put in mitts.

If you coat their hands/feet with good quality lotion before applying the wax, removal should be easy. It should just slide right off.

y mthod is to apply a rich massage cream befor waxing this not only helps the removal but it makes the hands/feet extra smmoth and soft. I then ask client to dip hands/feet into bath remove for 10 sec then repeat upto 3 times. hands are then placed into clear bags and into warm towels to mits. whilst waiting i massage the hands/feet which ever is not having the treatment. After 20 mins remove towels and then you should just be able to role the bag and wax off starting at the wrist / ankle .... no mess:) rub in any excess cream and then you are done:) hope this helps:)

Thanks everyone for your input! I'm leaning toward the bath, where you dip, but i can keep my brush handy anyway.

Your removal techniques sound similar to mine, except i was using cling film so i'll get some of those bags. This way, i was rubbing the hands/ feet through the cling film and then removing with hot towels, so your way i'll hopefully be able to do it in one smooth move, more or less.

I have OPI and Dermalogica creams so the skin always feels great, but this'll help with the clean up,lol.

Thanks again xxx

I think you will find the bath makes adding paraffin wax to your service menu so easy and your clients will love it!!!

i've always fancied using a bath because it seems easier - i have always brushed it on simply becasue that is how i was taught.
just wondered if dipping the hands/feet in is hygenic? i know a lot of therapists do it so it must be ok to do, just wasn't sure if you had to somehow 'clean' it between? with the hot wax i use, the temp is turned up over night to get rid of bacteria - do you need to do a similar thing with a bath?
quite keen to get one! xx

Brushing is my method of choice!
