I was going to give Performance tips a try - Can someone please give me a guide on how to apply and any opinions on these tips would be fantastic...

Its very simple: You size up, apply the tip, then apply your product, and its as easy as that!! With performance there is no need for pre filing, or for blending once they are applied.

The things to watch out for with performance is that the shape doesnt suit everyone (as with all tips). You need a bit of free edge to use these, so they are not suitable for nailbiters. They have a deep c curve, so still keep some other tips in stock for those gentle c curve and square c curve folks (and the nailbiters). Also, you must use Speedbond with Performance tips, as Gelbond will make them "sit up" on the nailplate. This will mean you will need to blend them in, taking awayone of the benefits of using them.

I recommend these tips highly. These are my "standard" tips and I use these for the majority of my services. Give them a try and see what you think!

do u have a pic of these tips?

You should be able to find a picture on the CND website, or why not ring Sweet Squared and ask for a catalogue. Provided you are a qualfied Tech you can buy the tips, you dont have to be CND qualified, thats only if you want to buy their l&p or gel systems.

Give them a ring on 0845 210 6060

I love CND tips and use Velocity at the moment.

However I use Calgel and you absolutely MUST use their resin for applying tips as it is applied to a layer of clear gel. If you don't use their resin the tips just ping off within a day.

I love the sound of Performance tips but In this instance would I be better sticking to Velocity????

Thanks for your help in advance:hug:

I use these tips with NSI brush on adhesive, which is thin and fast setting and have no problems.

I think it is the fact that gelbond is 'thicker' and a slower set that would make it difficult - correct me if I'm wrong:)

I have used Performance tips with gelbond....by mistake...a case of me not thinking about what I was doing :smack:

It did take a while for me to get them to adhere and after about 5 nails I realised I wasn't using my Speedbond....which worked a lot better!!!

I love Performance tips....they are so great for 'quickness' but I am a mediocre nail biter and they don't look great on me. I can use them because I don't bite my nails too far down...but I find Velocity better for me as a nail biter....

On a good nail bed they are fantastic...everyone should have Performance tips in their kit.... I call them my Speedies....

I use gelbond with mine and have had no problems.

I'm not happy with speedbond as the lat lot I got was all hard before I opened them. Will order a few more and see how they are, maybe just an unlucky batch.

Try NSI brush on adhesive, it is very similar but so mush easier to use IMO

If you are wanting any 'tips' on the application of CND Performance tips then here they are.

Size your tips.

Apply to the free edge of the natural nail like this:
  1. Use with the extreme smile line of the tip as it is OR you can easily reduce the extreme smile, if it doesn't suit the client, by trimming the 'ears' off the smile, producing a more natural effect.
  2. Apply as normal and let the adhesive set in the centre portion of the tip. Then slide your thumbs up into the corners to ensure that they are adhered well in that area as well.
Adhesive sets with pressure so pressure must be applied in the corners.

sorry to hijack thread, does this mean that to use gelbond with performance is an absolute no no? :)
