Hi i had a young 19yrs client pop into the salon concerned about her skin as im the only one doing treatments at salon I offered her a free face mapping but only had about 10mins till next client. Spoke to her as she said she was concerned about her pigmentation on her skin and that it was really bad, but got worse in the last year. I had a look at it-it seems quite dehydrated, and I could see the problems she was experiencing around her cheeks and chin area but it looked like pigmented scaring and damage to the skin. She had asian skin as i know pigmentation is common within this skin and she tells me that shes had many courses of facials before and its done nothing for her skin. She isnt after a basic facial, where her skin glows and is throughly cleansed and steamed but wants to get rid of whats on her skin overnight almost soits clear. It was very difficult to facemap as she had layers of foundation on you could see where it was peeling so shes obviously self concious about it. Shes booked in for a facial tomorrow but I just dont feel i can help get rid of the scaring any ideas?
I did saying exfoliation would improve it i do dermalogica facials using there products but dont use any machines, and said they have different strengths so i could how heer skin is then increase it with further treatments. She was very adamant she wanted a strong product and basic doesnt affect her i explained there perscription based and that i would advise her on homecare advice too but she had abit of an attitude and admitted that shes probably damaged her skin through the use of any product she can get her hands on but wasnt specfic about what she using on her skin.
So wondered if you can help me as to what i can advise and do in a facial tomorrow will they go the scarring or laser is needed?
surely exfoliated will help
sorry its long winded thanks in advace for replies

without seeing her skin is it impossible to give accurate advice. From what you describe, if she has pigmentation problems, no facial (with the best will in the world), is going to have an impact on pigmentation. Asian skin is very difficult to treat and dependant upon her expectations, I would not be offering facials to treat pigmentation - she is going to end up extremely disappointed and from what you say, I would advise against this course of action.

I really feel you should manage her expectations and if she is expecting overnight success - you simply cannot deliver this. She needs advanced treatments for pigmentation - such as a deep peel or laser tx from an experienced medical skin clinic, specifically a practitioner who is used to treating asian skin - this is a very specialised area.

If she just wants refreshed, cleansed skin, in a relaxed environment - then go ahead and offer a facial. But she needs to be aware of what can and cannot be achieved at this level. Hope that helps.

I would recommend her chroma white.Maybe give her a few samples to take away and try. xxx

yes I understand what your saying I thought exfoliation and use of dermalogica products would improve her skin but I did say im not sure it will get rid of it but she said she wants too try when she booked it. From what I Gather shes had various electical facials and courses before and never worked she said shes wasted her money so My job is tough cos she does have high expectations but then I did say you cant expect miracles when I did sample her products for pigmentation to try at home.
im suprised she booked in to be honest as i did not promise miracles but now feel a lot of pressure on tomorrows treatment. quire difficult cos i knoe shes gonna moan about filing in a consiltation card too she said i thought we did it last time when i only facemapped and asked a few but ill take your advice on board ty

Maybe hun, shes just one of those clients that doesnt follow up anything at home and expects miracles from one treatment a year. You know the sort!
If she goes home picking her spots then of course she will get nowhere. You just dont know what shes doing at home.
I would try not to worry hun, all you can do is give her all of the information she needs and you cant go wrong. If it doesnt work for her then theres only so much you can do with products xxx

ok I will stay positive then thankyou for your kind advice will help me
