I am at the end of my tether and need some help asap!!!!
I have a client who is a complete nightmare she never ever seems to be able to keep on what ever I do.

She likes the Permanent French look but they always seem to lift and pop off so I did just natural tips with pink Gel and they were fine.
For Christmas she wanted Glittery Gel so this is what I did and bingo with in 5 days she said they came off or were lifting so badly:eek:

Well I thought doing white tips with clear gel might help so on Monday I did just this.
I used CND Performance White Tips this is the first time I have used them and they looked good I did give her an extra prep it must have taken my about half an hour just to be on the safe side. I then applied the liquid bond then bonding layer of clear, building layer then buffed and applied topcoat.I made sure I pulled a little under the tip to cap it.

I was happy with how it went and she seemed chuffed that was until about 10 minutes ago she called to say that there was something very bad about them they had what looked like little black specks on them and they weren't attached to the tips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am at a loss I don't know what to do next she is coming to me tonight to see what I can do.

Could it be because of the white tips and curing?
Should I have given them longer than the 2 mins in the lamp?
I never used black files just Blizzard Boards so no idea where the black dots have came from.

Please help:cry:

Hi can't help with the tips as I've not used them....I know they are already shine removed but maybe to need to etch them with a 180 for the gel to bond better to the white tip.

the little black specs could be bits of dirt that have accumulated underneath the lifting free edge.

I'm not trained in gel but the first thing I thought of is your clients constantly putting her fingers in her mouth or really hot water ? has she got really oily nails? xx

If the gel wasn't cured enough then they would pick up bits and this could be black dots if on the nail surface, If underneth its probably dirt that got under them did you cap the free-edge well ??
Also did you etch the white tips prior to applying gel??

Hi, guys!!!! I have had the same problem, I know people say no white tips and gel, but when I did my gel course, I was told with the new performance tips it would be ok!!
But a few days later the gel peeled of the tips, I had capped etc did the same routine as you, would also go with dirt trapped under the lifting, I thought it may have been my lamp needing new bulbs? put the nails did look great when done, I know no help at all sorry:hug: x

Hi Lell I capped the tips at each stage.
I didn't etch the tips as I thought with Performance ones you didn't need to.
I am seeing her at 6.30 so I think I will try once more and then see what happens.
Do you think I should double cure each stage or would that be too much?

I don't think double curing will help so much as the product you are using has its set cure time.....unless it was applied too thick....clear gels cure most easily as there is no pigment in them.

Give it a go on etching your tips, use a 180, if you can do that, depending on the state of the nails before you start......and see if that makes a difference...... I would do this before applying to the natural nail, pre-blending, no need to blend when on the natural nail.

If you need to do a lot of filing to start over, so be it and I hope you solve it....

I have a client who sounds very similar to yours and I use Calgel on her as it's the only thing she suits, couldn't get her on with anything else in my armoury :Scared:

Well she has just left and omg her nails look horrid:cry: makeup and stuff between the gel and the tip:irked:
They had separated from the free edge and the thumb had a bit of gel chipped off.
There was no black specks on the Nail plate just the tip so I filed it off right back to the tips I lost 2 tips as they are so thin I just went a bit to far.

I removed all the gel from the tips so etched them at the same time and again applied the clear gel making sure I capped each layer so fingers crossed this will last this time.

If it happens again I am sure she wont come back to me to be honest I think she picked under the tip and broke the seal but she says no:green:
Thanks to everyones advice xxxx:hug:

White tips and gel can be a problem....some products like it, others don't, I don't know why....if the seal on the free edge was right, there would be nothing to pick at and shouldn't have been a problem....hope it's all good next time xxx

I have done two sets of nails this week using the OPI Dimension Tips (already white and needs no blending), followed up with Brisa Gel and they looked great both girls came back with the gel gone from the nail bed but the tips in place. I cannot figure it out....I re-did them and so far I have heard nothing. I made sure the prep work was done perfectly and everything.....they were both nail biters so I am thinking that they started chewing on the sides....any ideas?
