Just at to post because I am gobsmaked, Picked up the new Argos book today and while flicking through it came to the Salon section and low and behold along with the gels, L&p, Nail art etc there are now POP Acrylic Nails:eek:
Yes that well known professional company called Rio have now come up with there own Popits :irked:

I saw this too, a few week ago when the new catalogue came out,
i really saw the funny side to it all though,
just look at all the teething problems trained, experienced nail techs had with the pop-its until they had practised and mastered the little tricks (with Gigi`s help),
yes the pop-its are easy, when you are a trained nail tech with great education easily accessible here and the free demos that were available and plenty of practise,
but the joe public don't have any of this and will fail 9 times out 10 when trying to use them so will end up in their salon getting their nails applied professionally once they realise they have wasted money on rio diy kits,

don't let it get to you hun, look at the funny side and imagine the nails joe public will produce with these lol

it never takes long for a good idea to spread.

when i did some work in hong kong i was told that manufacturers from china come to their massive trade fair to take photos of new and promising ideas and packaging of top brands . then they return to china and start to put new items into production with cheaper lower quality versions being the end result.

i'm in agreement with lousie though. its no big deal. its a free market but amateur attempts are no real competition to us.
acrylic products etc have been available for years to anyone who really wants them so it was inevitable that it would just be a matter of time.

more to select from at next years car boot sales i would imagine !

It just makes me laugh at how quickly the copies come out and to call it pops too.
Would love to be a fly on joe publics wall when they attempt to do them:lol:

They copy everything in China and usually with lesser quality ingredients ... but not always.

It was always going to happen. Stick ons have been around forever and has it hurt our business? I don't think so.

I was in town a few days ago, a new shop has opened which sells bags, bling jewellery various make up and hair extensions.
I was totally amazed to see they were selling various nail tips, a pot of powder and bottle of acrylic. I dont do nails and would never dream of even trying without training. BUT i bet some young girl will buy the products and try doing their own nails causing untold damage/injury. They had 100s of nail varnishes which were all very cheap and watery.
I still find it amazing that a shop aimed at teenagers sell these products.
