Hi All,

I qualified as a Nail Tech over a year ago and have been doing enhancements on family and friends. I am using 'The Edge' products as this is what my college has recommended. I use both L&P and Gel methods but find my nails lift pretty quickly and they don't last for very long. Wondering if this is due to the branded product I have been using, the fact I am using EMA as I know MMA lasts so much longer, or could it be my technique is not up to scratch? Maybe a combination of them all??

Don't feel confident to go into the outside world and charge for a set when they don't last very long! Any comments or suggestions about new products would be much appreciated.

Thanks x

@ flower ,,,, you are quick with them searches hun lol

You need to do your prep correctly and thorulghy hun. if there is any product or oils on the nail plate the product will lift make sure you cleanse the nail plate before product placement and do not touch it with your fingers. If you do re cleanse.

Also you have to remove all cuticle incuding the sidewall area so check that to. You cant build a house with shoddy foundations and its the same with nails. You cant create a beautiful enhancement on a slippery surface :) xx

Hey,
your nail PREP is of the utmost importance as per above. If your prep isnt done correctly it wont matter what brand of L & P you use it will still lift.

i would recommend going over what nail prep you do and see if there is something you are not doing right or are missing altogether.

Good luck,

MMA a BIG NO NO it is actually banned in alot of countries, and not to be used... although those nail salon bars seem to think they don't have to abide by these rules.

Cheers Stace

OMG step away from even the thought of using MMA,
there are lots very good brands on the market that work exceptionally well and are EMA,
the brand you are using is not a very good one so you could get much better,
here's some good names for you to have a think about,
CND
NFU OH
OPI
NSI
Ezflow

take a look at the tutorials on this site too, they will help you with prep, application, finishing,
you can find them under the navigation bar,
hth

Thanks everyone for your help. I do thoroughly prep, think my primer might be a problem. Using one of those pen type ones and noticed that other companies use more of a nail varnish type of primer. Perhaps thats another reason why they lift? Does anyone know if you can use another branded primer with the edge products?

And there is a product that doesn't need any primer at all!! I really think you should look around here on the site and learn a bit about products etc. Do a search on MMA ... it in fact lasts the least well of any l&P type product.

It may seem to stick to the surface but in fact would not stick at all if the tehnicians who use it didn't rough up the entire surface of the nails first.
Do you want to use something where you have to do that to the natural nail? I sure hope not.
All branded L&P products are EMA in many countries MMA is banned for use on nails.

A good book to learn about products is Nail Structure & Product chemistry by Doug Schoon.

Use the search button above and do a search. You'll have lots to read.

Step away from the MMA. lol
If you strive to be a good nail technician MMA isnt the route to go down at all.
I use CND products myself and i love every product they sell!

xx
