Being mobile I have had a call from a client and am not sure what to do.

They say they have psoriasis and can they have a tan?

I've seen varying degrees of psoriasis over the course of my beauty career but wasn't sure what to say. The client is 15 miles away.

I cannot in the life in me find my training manuals. Please can you help?

Thanks

Psoriasis sufferers can have a spray tan but the outcome will all depend on how bad it is and how large an area,
she needs to moisturise her dry areas 2 or 3 times a day every day on the lead up to the tan,
then on the day of the tan she needs to be free from all oils and creams,
as long as she does not have large patches on a visible area it will be fine,
you also need to explain to her that the dryer areas will turn out darker,

you should have given me a call hun, i am still here as your trainer to ask questions when you have a mind block,

Psoriasis is a contra-indication to spray tanning but I have sprayed someone with psoriasis.

It all depends on where it is and the severity of it. As you know it usually in hair, elbows, kness but it can occur all over the body.

One of my ladies has psoriasis and it literally covers her back and I refuse to spray her back at all but I will spray the rest of her. This doesn't matter too much in the winter but I think I may have problems with her in the summer when she wants to wear vest tops. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it tho.

However one of my other ladies has small patches and has a tan without any problems, I just make sure I am a little further away from her when I spray those areas so that it doesn't "grab" too much. BTW if the psoriasis is cracked and weeping then a definite NO NO as it will sting like hell!

Ask your lady about the severity and location of her psoriasis and if poss get her to send you a mobile piccie of her worst patches, that may help you decide whether or not to do it.

Make sure you get her to sign a declaration that she is having the tan at her own risk

Thanks all yes Lou I completely forgot I can call you. I will be in touch soon as I need some spray tans for weddings coming up. Hope you are well xxx

Just as a footnote it is advisable not to treat any areas where the skin has cracked so much that there is an open wound and as Julie has mentioned it will undoubtably sting, could cause further irritation and inflammation as well as possible infection.

If the effected areas are either inflamed or cracked open...don't go there:hug:
