I visited my client approx mon evening to carry out the patch test for lash tint and lash perm. Every thing was fine when i went back to do the treatment on wednesday.
She was very pleased with the results. However today i had a call off her to say she thinks she had a reaction to the tint, as her eyes were feeling itchy all the time, as she is a nurse she used eye drops and took anti-histamine's, and asked if there was anything else she should do. She was fine about the fact she had a bad reaction as she then mentioned that she sometimes get very itchy when she has her hair dyed. She just wanted to check if there was anything else she should do. Thats when i realised that , my training never covered that apart from telling them to go to there gp. So can anyone help me out please.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this

Even when a patch test shows no adverse reaction the client can still react badly,
don't let it worry you as you did the patch test, just as you should have so you are covered by your insurance should she change her mind about been ok about it,
she did the right thing to take an antihistamine, these can be bought in most chemists,
if she was suffering with a burning sensation she could use a cold compress too, hth

Thanks loubylou, i did think a cold compress, but was so caught off guard when i had the call, that i told her what she was doing was fine. i will call her again tomorrow to check things are okay.
I'm so glad i insist on a patch test.
It's just not worth the risk is it.

All you can do is provide the appropriate first aid as per an eye injury at the time of treatment. To do anything else - ie. treat it yourself - is to venture beyond the scope of beauty therapy.

Recommending that she go to a GP is good advice and is as per your training and duty of care. The GP can then refer her the appropriate course of action.

As others have said the GP is the next port of call. If she has reacted to hair tinting in the past this should have come up in consultation and you could have advised her not to have the tinting. Not sure if this is because she didn't mention it or because you didn't ask, but it's something to check next time. You've done all the right things though as we can only advise and at the end of the day she went ahead knowing the risks as she had the previous reaction.
