Hi :) Jst recently purchased a spray tanning kit, been practicing on friends n family, but my tan keeps running!!! I have my nozzle set at the lowest setting and are a far enough distance to spray. Dont know what Im doing wrong, i done a 1 day course in spray tanning, and managed it fine then. Im using the maxi mist and suntana solution....any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!! thanks x

if its running and your gun is set right its possibly a speed issue in that your going a little slow hence too much solution being applied to the skin making it run, use your buffing mitt to dab of any runs, and try going a little quicker when applying the solution hth

Can I ask where you did your training please?

the thing to get into the minds eye is "trust in the solution" it will tan...and "less is more"
There is a balance to be had between speed of movement across the skin, distance the gun is held away from the skins surface,technique/or sequence of your routine and of course secondary issues such as extraction, pre tan prep etc etc.
It really is a case of practice, practice ,practice(usage) making lots of mistakes and learning from each one you make.
Its so easy to forget everything you were taught on your training day but rest assured with a little self confidence and usage you will get there

believe in yourself, your training and learn from those mistakes.

Hi,
You sure your not to close to the person your spraying?

hi...its your settings you need to play about with the gun until you are happy with it, i have been doing it for year, just recived my new gun and it has taken me about 4 weeks to get it spot on as it was running all over....dont panic or worrie its not you its the settings chill and it will all fall into place just keep playing with it

Hi am aslo new to this site, having read your thread was wondering if it could be that you are holding the spray gun to near. Try practising on some couch role to get an idea of the distance away from the body you need to be. I found this a great help when I first started out.

You ideally need to be spraying between 6/8 inches from the skins surface however your speed of movement can also effect the optimum distance.
When you first start your speed of movement will be slower so you may have to hold the gun a tad further away to avoid pooling problems...once your speed picks up through usage get that dial turned down a tad every couple of tans you do and start working closer to the skin.

A good way of gaining confidence is to set your equipment up by the shower cubicle....whilst holding the gun with trigger pulled with one hand use your other hand and turn the dial open and closed in an exaggerated manner and see for yourself just how much that volume output dial effects how much solution comes out of the gun.
Alternativley using water set your equipment up outside and do the same while spraying a plant.

Doing this for a good half hr or so and again if your confidence waivers is really a good way of getting to know your equipment...do that and with a little more usage and experience under your belt you will be fine.
