I understand the basic difference that silk is a finer weave. But when would you choose to use silk over fibreglass or vice versa?

This is a good question.

Silk looks a little different .. a little softer more feminine.

Fibreglass is more crisp/sharp looking.

Some clients prefer to say their nails are warpped in silk ... sounds more luxurious than fibreglass doesn't it?

If you are using a traditional wrap system then silk is a little less strong.
If you are using the Fabric# system ... there is no difference in strength between the two materials.
Personal choice.

I was just thinking about this very thing last night... thanks to Jane for asking and thanks to geeg for the clarification.

I love this site.... so many like minded people :)
