Spam Mail

Hello there...thought i'd let you know of a spam mail going around at the moment. Usually, and having worked on the web for donkeys-years I'm quite savvy with this sorta thing...but it just threw me as it looked sorta authentic at first- as it's come from a Salon Geek members email that I know a lot of people know on here, and its signed off with her real name also (which I'll withold)

So, if you see this on email (as im sure its snaking around) I'd ignore it. (turns out its as hacked Hotmail account)

Sorry I didn't inform you about my travelling to Spain for a program, I'm presently in Madrid Spain, and I'm having some difficulties here, because I misplaced my wallet on my way to the hotel where I'm Staying. My money, and other valuable things were kept in it. I need you to do me a favour, please Lend me £800 Pounds, to sort-out my hotel bills and to get myself back home. I will appreciate whatever you can afford to assist with. I'll Pay the money back to you on my return. let me know if you can be of any help as soon as possible.

Yes, I sent a Facebook message to the salon geek member in question (as her recent Facebook posts sounded as she was still in the UK), and she confirmed it was hackers.

Oh well, at least it wasn't from Prince Abu in war-torn South Africa, needing your bank account details so they can 'rest' $1000000 in it.

I keep saying that when I get a story that is well written and grammatically correct, I will bung them a few quid for their inventiveness. :green:

I had a similar email from my Uncle's email saying how he had been robbed on holiday and needed money to get home.. I knew it wasn't from him straight away (the grammar was too good :lol::lol

A few people fell for it and one of his friends rang him to ask how much he needed and if he was OK

Makes you sick doesn't it??? :irked:
