Hi

I was just wondering if many of you had much success with spray tan alone?

I'm qualified in all aspects of beauty but I have all the bits I need for spray tan so thought I would start with that and maybe add in the future.

I have a full time job but it doesn't pay much so thought this might be a way of bumping up my income a bit.

Would like to know if any of you have had success with spray tan alone xxx

Hey im going to offer some beauth treatments with spray tan as well as hair extensions. Will be adding shellac as well. Its is worth a shot as if your mobile clients may book more than one service.

I've stopped trading at the momet to do more training and build up my clientele. Im currently looking for a salon to work in x

One of my most popular treatments is mobile spray tanning but I don't think id be able to sustain this on its own. However in saying that I don't advertise much just via FB and gumtree and today got 4 bookings so not bad lol I also offer holistic treatments and am beauty trained so that takes in more money for me.

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply.
If I decide to give it a go I will let you know how I get on.xxx

I started off with just tanning and built up from there, but it is the treatment that rakes in the money every single month, even when its £15 compared to £45 lash extensions. Its always tan, tan, tan. I think Im just known for it now but i love it as its quick turnaround and easy money.

I started off doing just Spray Tanning and I was so busy! I had to cut down as I only do evenings mobile due to being a mummy to a baby and I ran myself into the ground. It depends on your area, where I am there isn't much competition for spray tanning so I tend to come up high on the search page for tanning in my area. I advertise with Yell and I have the free one as well as gumtree and Facebook x

Hi molly,

I am "The Tanologist" :)

I have had a wonderful success in specialising in spray tanning. On my good weeks i can earn as much as £150....!!!!! And thats only working 1/2 days. I think if you select the right tanning solution & offer a full correct service, you will have no problem in it being a success. There are many therapist whom offer tanning in my area all of which cut corners, hence why my clients come to me and prefer to pay that little bit extra. I carryout a consultation, give out hats, knickers, sticky feet etc. All of which other therapists fail to do.

Although, its a success i have started to get slightly bored and i am in the process of adding to my price list.

Hope ive helped :) xxx

Hi Molly

I agree with the 'Tanologist' if it's the only treatment you're providing. You need to perfect it, and ensure you are the best!! Have you thought about a contouring course? That's still spray tanning but a good option to add to the repertoire. X

Do you mind me asking what brand of tan you use...I'm also thinking of adding this to my services and was thinking fake bake.

I use Sienna X, I had training with them as well. It's really popular in my area, I get a lot of people asking for it by name :)

Wow it's so lovely to hear your success stories and words of advice. Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing xxx

Yes I think I'm gona go with Fake Bake too! Any other fake bakers out there??? If so how do you find the tan? On average how many roughly do you do a week?

Hi, I offer mobile spray tanning as I too am a mummy during the day so work weekends and evenings. I use fake bake and LA tan. I like LA gold as this suits my fair skinned customer's better but I personally prefer FB. I too provide the full service and give all my customers all the disposables they need even including disposable bras. As others have said I charge more than all my competitors but most come back to me time and time again. Im top on yell.com for my area and nearly all my new customers come from that.

It hasn't happened overnight for me but 3 1/2 year's in, I believe I'm offering an excellent service.

I give all the before and after care advice necessary. I run fb competitions but usually get one time customer's from this who never rebook!

I have done a few short courses in waxing, lashing, tinting, cnd manicures etc but the profit margin is nowhere near what I can make tanning.

Hth. Good luck.

Claire. Xx

Hi Claire, how many fake bakes would you say you do in a week? :)

Hi Nikki, a good week I do around 8 fb and 2 LA. That's plenty for me and I turn quite a few away some weeks. They tend to prefer fb as it's a name they know. X

That's good to know that you are busy with the tans....do you mind me asking how much you charge for FB? Yes I better get myself on the FB course I think.

Its an out of hours business for me too and I have to say it is a good money spinner.
I do them from home and mobile but the best money makers are parties 7-10 girls under one roof getting sprayed one after another £12-£17 a go (depending on distance and number in group). Good money.
I added lashes and simple polish which encouraged the spray parties even more!
All the best :)
