I have never agreed with anything so much in my life! Well said! My great aunt smoked 60 a day for 65 years and died at the age of 97 from natural causes, my mum has cancer and the doctors said to her smoke all you like if smoking caused cancer there would be a cure!!
And for every story like this there are 10 like my Aunty Jenny who died aged 39 leaving three young kids
Which is awful but did she die from smoking? There is no definite proof smoking causes cancer, all I am going off is a cancer specialist doctor who has told my mum (a smoker who has cancer) that smoking doesn't cause cancer or there would be a cure my mums friend died of cancer leaving 2 young kids at the age of 28 and she didn't touch a cigarette in her life x
No disrespect but someone with bladder/bowel problems is totally different. Often that is uncontrollable, whereas smoking has at some point been a choice and then led to addiction. I don't know anyone who was born with a smoking addiction, or had children and then developed a smoking addiction, or was in a car accident and developed a smoking addiction from injuries sustained in the accident, but all of those can apply for bladder/bowel, you know?
Yes she died from cancer of the oesofagus (?) which is normally only found in smokers..are you really trying to negate years of research by the medical profession and say smoking isn't bad for you?? Did you not read the earlier arrival which proves smokers have more sick days then non smokers? Really that is just denial
This is getting way off topic and very bitchy getting, reformed smokers are a nightmare.
With the e cig you could puff it in the staff toilet or staff room so clients will not see you using it! I've not smoked a normal cig for nearly 6 weeks after terrible bronchitis it does take will power but hearing on news if you stop before 30 (I'm nearly 31) you can healthy again quiet quick so defo worth a try if any ones trying to quit! X
Because we say what you don't want to hear I've not been bitchy or deffencive, I had a bit of banter with someone earlier which was Mis read and now I'm being told that smoking doesn't cause cancer...come back to me in 20 years

Is it just me or is anyone else craving a ciggie after reading all of this
To the OP, I believe that they were smoking "behind your back" because they do not feel they have set rules for smoking.
Once you impliment a smoking policy, the rules will be clear and you can stick to them.
To the holier than thou's - well done, I and the NHS are truly proud. But I can say myself I have fallen off the smoking wagon many a time and its HARD!
Different strokes for different folks and all. I wont dictate wether or not my staff smoke, just like I wouldnt tell them what nail polish to wear. Thats THEIR life choice, but we have set rules about when and where.
