Hi, am having more and more customers coming in for a spray tan with a face full of make up. They have used my wipes to take their make up off but some are saying that their faces are not taking - obviously this must be the wipes that are creating a barrier, but just wondered what other people do :confused:

are they advised before hand to arrive with no makeup on...?

Explain to them when they book to come 'make up free' and the reasons why and if they fail to listen to you and turn up with make up on and have to use wipes after you have explained all this prior to their booking then it's their fault!!
Gosh I'm harsh :lol::wink2:

Yes I am telling them the usual but I think because a few are coming straight from work, thats the problem and some are just bringing their own make up wipes. I am saying if it doesnt take because of that to come back and I will re-do their face, but its just annoying and I wondered if there was a specific type of wipe or something that could take their make up off without the problem. Whats more annoying is they are not saying it to me, I am hearing them moaning on the grapevine and cos I have just started up I dont want my rep affecting

It must be the wipes then...I know there are alot of wipes out there that do leave a residue behind. Do you have a wash area....?? maybe get them to rinse there face with plain soap and water after using the wipes..??

Most wipes have moisturisers in them, and this is what is causing the barrier.

I never really have a prob as all my clients know not to wear make-up.

I used a Jane Iredale Magic Mitt to take my make up off. All you need is water and the mitt takes the lot off. I just wash it with soap after every use and bang it in the washer once a week.

It was £15 so i think it would a bit costly for you to buy a load of them in for your clients to use, then you would have to make sure they were washed every night at a high temp to kill off any bacteria.

Buffwipes - Pre Tan Skin Exfoliating Wipes

Try these....I get mine from Celebrity Secrets. There a bit more expensive than make-up wipes, but far better than having people come back for top-ups. I also get people to remove any deodorant with them too. One wipe should be plenty.

The problem with make-up wipes is they have moisturiser in them too, moisturiser acts as a barrier to spraytan solution hence it won't take.

Personally, I advise everyone of this first and then if they choose to ignore me its their own fault and I wouldn't offer any freebie face top ups. In fact I'd see it as a retail opportunity and be selling them a tan in a can for the face, or tan wipes from my range!

Thanks for the info, think I will order in some CS wipes then or ask them to use soap and water when they get here

I use these too. That reminds me I need to order some more so am shopping around if anybody knows of a good place to get them from.

I used the sluff wipes but have had trouble getting them as they are great for that client that comes from work and hasnt got time to go home. I do have a spray but prefer the wipes.

I will have a look at the site and see about ordering some more as its good to have them even if htye dont get used much, you never know when you will nrrd them.

Thanks for the link lyndsay
