i have been spray tanning for a few months now and have had my last 3 10% tantrick spray tans comment that their legs were streaky i have done several 8% tans and no problems and my previous 10% were fine if anyone can shed any light as to where im going wrong??? Also i just wondered how far away everyone holds their spray gun from the client and whether it makes that much difference as i know a few people who spray tan and we all hold our machines at different distances

It may not be something you are doing wrong, it may be the clients prep. Just a thought. Do you give them pre-tan instructions? (Do you think they follow them? LOL.)

It may not be your spraying distance either - if you were too close for instance, the solution would probably pool on the skin.

i gave all pre treatment advice and know 1 had slightly dry skin on her legs but the other 2 didnt, i adjust my gun so the colour guide comes out enough to see but is virtually dry in a minute or so, it looks even when going on im confused as to why this has happened

Leanne as Zoe said it may not be you at all but could be your client's prep, or lack of it. If one of your client's has very dry skin then this could affect the outcome.

Have you seen the clients afterwards? If not maybe you should've got them to come back to you so you could see, or if you are mobile get them to send you a picture of their patchy bits so that you can see for yourself.

When you say your client is dry in a minute or so, this may suggest that you are spraying a little too wet/too close as the spray should be almost dry as you apply it.

If you turn your solution control screw to off and the back to your spraying position what position is it in? I spray about 6-9 inches away from my client.

Just had another little brainwave whilst I type - had your clients showered off their guide colour as if not, it can look a little patchy until you have done that, due to clothes rubbing, sleeping positions etc etc.

Hope this has helped.

Another thought - freshly shaved legs - especially when shaved with a blunt razor, makes the skin almost grazed. I know I've have clients who have shaved their legs directly before a spray tan even tough I've not them not too.

there isnt any excessive wet patches or pooling just a light even colour guide it looks even when going on, i have my gun adjusted so it only just comes out, i spray approx 6 inches away i know that all 3 of them do shave their legs wonder if thats the answer many thanks to all of you for your answers it really is appreciated

when i wrote this "i adjust my gun so the colour guide comes out enough to see but is virtually dry in a minute or so" i meant to follow it with "its totally dry" got side tracked by 3 yr old

 Just a thought.Did you shake your bottle before you filled your gun not sure whether it would cause a problem but sometimes it can be the simplest things that cause problems.
Also are you sure your gun is spraying evenly and doesn't need a clean especially the needle.Have you tried it on some couchroll.

Legs can be the most difficult areas to get right for two reasons
1) the client...shaving,dry skin and lack of post application care(moisturiser)

2) The application itself....legs are ,relative to the rest of the body, tall skinny things and many people fall down when applying to these things that sick down to the ground,....to much,to little of patchy.

One of the most common reasons for a patchy tan outcome to these "sticks" of ours is that the therapist as she/he works down or up the leg tips the gun I.E. as you come down with a stroke it is natural due to the pressure on your hand to tilt the gun downwards.

Try and maintain an equal distance away from the skin surface at all times on the stroke and really focus on holding the gun completely horizontal at all times....don't tip the gun downwards..as you get to the shin simply pull the gun further away from the skin surface to avoid to much solution on the ankle and feet

Hoping this helps

Thats the problem with the tents they have that bit at the bottom which is too high they should be designed with a smaller bit. At the end of the day they are camping toilet tents without the flap at the front wouldnt you just love to design a different one.

Lol I know what you mean and we have

Unfortunately the "step" is need to retain the structure and restrict over spray from going on white carpets.

Maybe get your customers to stand on a couple of house bricks instead of thinner sticky feet :lol::lol:

now there's an idea...sticky feet that are 6" thick...be just like going back to the 80's all over again :eek:

sounds like a plan "retro sticky feet" lol thanks to you all once again god this site is great! x
