I've just signed up as a consultant and am hoping to get some extra christmas money aswell as promoting my beauty bits and bobs!

I've been looking through the threads on here to see if there was anyone else doing it or to get some tips but most of the posts are quite old.

The host incentives are amazing with this and i also can't wait to get my reduced price goodies! :)

Is there anybody else out there who is doing Body Shop at the moment?

I don't do the Body Shop at home but I have actually worked in one of the Body Shop stores for almost 3years.. so if you need any help on product infomation I'll do my best to help =D x

I worked for the body shop at home when I first qualified in beauty and I loved it. I would have carried on if my beauty business hadnt taken off so well.
I always found that raffles were a great little add on, and doing up small goody bags for people that booked parties. Have fun, its a great job

Micah, thank you for your offer...i may take you up on that at some stage as there is loads to take in!
Cabinkel i like that idea! I s'pose raffles are a good way to build up your kit from the proceeds but still give the guests/host a nice present. I might try that. Got my first 4 parties booked in and im rareing to go so fingers crossed!

ooo how did you get into this?
how much are you likely to earn is it better than ann summers?x

I think its definately better than Ann Summers as it can appeal to a wider range of people.
The benefits to the host are amazing and the consultant is definately onto a winning thing as the products kind of sell themselves, most people love/use the products AND you can advertise your own beauty business!
I went to the Christmas extravaganza party yesterday and had a brill time...got to try all the new christmas products, picked up loads of tips & the other ladies were lovely!
LeighBee i will pm you the details if ya like. x :)

Hey I used to work for The Body Shop at Home and I enjoyed it a lot however work commitments got in the way. I think if you got a good area manager who encourages you then you will go far! Good Luck and keep booking those fabulous parties!!!:)

I was looking into this today as I'm moving soon to Cornwall and was looking for a way to keep earning till I find a job. I would love to know how you get on.

Don't forget to advertise on your local Netmums.com Noticeboard. There's always a rep advertising her Body Shop parties on my local netmums x

Thanks SunSpray that's a great idea!!!!!:)

I've got 2 parties coming up this weekend...one is my own then one at a friends, so my big kit of goodies should arrive any day now...very exciting!
I ordered some more business cards from Vistaprint and am working on christmas leaflets now for my leaflet drop!

I will keep you posted & let u know how i get on!

I have a question, once you are a consultant do you have to do the leg work to get parties? I noticed on the body shop website that you can book parties on there so was wondering how it all works really.

You do have to do the legwork yourself but apparently you can get at least 2 parties from every party you do. We've been given ideas for places to approach ie local shops, playgroups, charities (can do fundraisers) etc. You can even go into your local Body Shop store and speak to the customers there.

I think if you do want a party and can't find a local consultant then you can contact the customer support and they find your nearest one. Can't imagine that would bring in many parties if you wait for that to be honest.

Thanks, that makes sense, can't wait to try this out when I move. I'm hoping I can make some ok money from it.

I did party plan for 3 years with Virgin vie at home and absolutely loved it....in fact it was doing that that got me interested in beauty. My confidence grew so much and (even though I say so myself) I was very good at it.
We had a message board on the consultants' site where we all shared ideas.

For anyone moving to a new area it's a great way to meet people.

There are many upsides and downsides to it:

When it's good it's good, but then when you get a few people cancelling parties, or you don't get your bookings it's very disheartening.

How good your manager is really makes a difference, I had a fantastic manager who had high standards, was very professional, and her training was excellent. At the same time she was not pushy and didn't make you uncomfortable if you weren't doing loads of parties.....she motivated you rather than pressurised you. They have targets and incentives and some of them can make you feel guilty if you're not selling as much as they'd like you to!!

It is a great way for you as a beauty pro to promote your business as you will meet loads of people. Just be aware of DPA, I would suspect that the DPA part of the BS order forms etc. will ask the customer if they are happy to recieve info etc from BS....therefore you would be unable to use the details from these to say send promos relating to your beauty business......so you will need to take customer details seperately for this (hope that makes sense)but this is easy enough to do.

The downside of BS as opposed to VV is that there is a body shop in just about every town centre, so you have less chance of repeat business from your customers as if they run out of their skincare or foundation they are more likely to pop into the shop than ring you up to order one.

I'm certainly considering going back as a Christmas Consultant, as I know I can earn a good amount coming up to Christmas, with very little outlay and few hours work.

Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Hi, just thought i'd give you all an update of how my Body Shop at Home parties went!

I had my first (Of 4) at my own house on friday that my mgr did so i could get some tips. Had a few friends round and it was a good night. I got one other party booked from that.

Last night i was out on my own and did one at a friends house...i didn't know any of the other girls there so was a bit nervous but it was brill! I did a game with them and just chatted about the products, the companies values and all the fab host offers!!

I made some really good money for me, but put some back on buying host/guest incentives and prizes!!!! Out of that party i got another party booking and a potential recruit!

So i'm pretty happy now and soooo glad i joined!:)

If anyone wants to know more just ask!
