Hi,

Looking for some feedback on the attached, not been doing this regulary for very long, had a few probs with lifting and confidence taking a bit of a hammering

What a lovely set of nails ,i like the design on the thumb..well done hun keep up the good work xx

looking good the only thing I can say is the white is a bit too far down.
but keep up the good work.
lifting would be down to the prep but the more you practice you will get there in the end:hug:
well done for posting a picture:hug:

i think these are a good effort.
i would say that there is to much white and not enough pink which makes the the nail look un balanced.if you had the nail this way round it would make the nail look much more sleaker.
im not sure about the shape as i dont think it looks quite right for the shape of the fingers but this is just imo.
did you use white tips as the whites dont looks so smiley, this is would also help the appearance of the nail as it would also make the nail look more sleaker and give the appearnace of a longer nail bed.
overall though this is a good effort, well done for posting.xx

Thanks for reply.

I have used tips and find that don't get many weeks of wear out of them i.e. after infilling every 2/3 weeks the length of the tip shortens which this particular client does not like. She has really long nail beds anway, can you suggest an alternative. I agree that the white should be further up as I think it looks more natural

can i ask what you mean by the length of the tips shortens? are they wearing away? if they are wearing away alot then i would say that your client is using her nails as tools as this shouldnt happen and i cant think what else would cause this problem.
what tips do you use?

Yes, sorry I'm not explaining myself very well.

Each time she has infills I need to file down the white as her nails become to long to work with, that is what I mean when I say that overall she is only getting approx 6-8 weeks before a new set of tips need to be applied. The tips I use are magnetic

This is where you need to rebalance the nails by doing what some call a backfill, this involves replacing the smile line back up the nail bad so no shadows from her natural nail are showing. To do this you would need to use white L&P. She has really long nail beds anway, can you suggest an alternative. I agree that the white should be further up as I think it looks more natural if your client was mine and had long nail beds to begin with i would either sculpt or use a natural tip and then use white powder to make a smile and natural looking length in white. Maybe use a coverage pink to give her even longer looking beds.
Try practicing using some white L&P on a tip and see if you can master doing smiles as i think this would benefit your client if she has long nail beds. Seems a shame to use white tips and lose some of it.

Overall well done and thanks for sharing. HTH:hug:

Hi,
Sorry being bit stoooopid here, L&P is that a gel product?

Hi,

No L&P is liquid and powder.
I should of asked first if you had used Gel or L&P?

If you do use gel can i ask where the lifting is coming from?

Just found this what Gigi wrote a while back about gel & lifting, might help you if you are a gel gal.........

Of course it is possible to use white tips and gel IF THE GEL IS SEE THROUGH (CLEAR OR PINK) THE UV WILL PENETRATE AND CURE IT PERFECTLY OVER A WHITE TIP. The light can penetrate right through the gel to the tip.

It is only when you use opaque white or coloured gels that for a complete cure the light needs to cure from both sides so you need to use clear tips because the light cannot penetrate all the way through the opaque gel.

And just to add........You need to make sure your white tips are buffed with at least a 180 grit file. The tips should be well etched and all shine removed.

A white buffing block is not sufficient to etch the tip well enough. Hope ive helped in some way chick

Lifting tends to be round the cuticle area, it has only happened a couple of times and i think it is my prep work, not de greasing enough.

You need a white gel to use when rebalacing...this way you wont have to do removals and new full sets every 6-8 weeks....and if you use a white gel in the first place instead of using white tips you can place the smile line in a more natural position. HTH

Theres more to cuticle work than degreasing chick, use a good cuticle remover followed by a curette, a good wash of hands followed by a really good scrub with scrubfresh or cool blue (not a wipe but a SCRUB)

Let us know how you get on and remember shorten the white and the nails wont look as unbalanced, bring in the sidewalls a touch also.

From what i can see (and ive zoomed in) your product looks flush around the cuticle, its got a lovely finish to it so follow the tips above and youve cracked it.

Please do post more, keep up the good work
