Thumbs, thumbs, thumbs!

Hi all! Could someone tell me, why is it when I put a set of gel overlays on anybody, the thumb is always the one to come off? It happens a lot. Am I doing something wrong? All the other nails stay on for ages! I'm using LeChat nobility soak off gel and I love it, but it always seems to be those darn thumbs!

when I was doing my gel training, I was warned in certain situations to do the other four fingers first and cure and then do the thims together and cure, as when the client put's their whole hand in the thumb is at an angle and can cause the gel to slide/move as you are curing, maybe this is causing it?? hth x

Just a thought.......do you do the thumbs seperately? Do you leave them till last? What sort of time is there between prepping the thumbs and actually applying the gel?
I was just thinking that if you are leaving the thumbs til last perhaps a fair bit of time has passed since they were prepped...perhaps by the time you come to do the thumbs they have rehydrated if you see what I mean?

Failing that...as ruthlm suggests...if you are curing thumbs at the same time as fingers the thumbs will not be able to cure properly as they will be laying at an angle in the lamp.

if not it could be that they are not getting a thorough cure.

also the thumb is the one that most people use as a tool, i know i tend to scrape the worktops etc when theres a stubborn bit with mine.:o they get more abuse than the others.

How many people is this happening on? How are they coming off? Do they come off in one whole peice? Is there anything left on the nail plate at all?

Hi Hun. It's happened on only a couple of people. It's coming off in one piece and there is nothing left on the nail plate. Any ideas what's happening? Xxx
