Trade Test

I have a BT coming for a trade test at some point this week. I am planning on letting her know what I want her to do for me tomorrow.

I thought eyebrow wax, half leg wax, gel nails and maybe a massage? Do any of you have any advice of something I could ask her to do that would be a good indicator of her skills?

I normally get them to do manicure with bright red polish on one hand, french on the other, leg, bikini wax, eyebrow wax and a massage. x

I think i'd get them doing everything. It would be a pamper day just for me No i'm joking lol
I also agree with the polish. I would also make them do an eyelash tint as ive lost count of the amount of times my first time clients have said 'wow that's the first time it didnt sting' I think well why would it sting? Obviously people are doing something wrong. I'd also want to know what the therapist would be doing while the tint is taking. If she didn't offer (or ask you if you include this) about a hand and arm massage then i'd want to know why. xxx

I have lash extensions on at the moment, thats the only thing. I was trying to think of things which are very skilled, like eyelash tints. Ie there are a LOT of things that could go wrong if she don't get it right!

So I'm thinking...eyebrow wax, half leg wax, basic bikini line, gel nails, and perhaps do a french mani/bright colour on my friend. We do a lot of artificial nails in the salon so I think its important for me to see how the nails work.

I learnt from last times mistakes but now im v controlling ie I want to trade test every single treatment she does!!!! LOL

Gel on one hand, L+P on the other? then a black/red and a french. A brow wax tint/lash tint and a bikini/underarm. Paying attention as said previous, to what she is doing while the tint takes, what she does while the gel cures, if she engages in easy conversation with you all. Good luck! x x

Also i would ask her in advance to prepare a 5 minute resentation on the topic of YOUR choice!!!!!

She doesn't do L+P, when I asked her if she does artificial nails she said she does gel nails using the Young Nails system, and can also apply Minx.

Could get an eyebrow tint?

If she's going to do your gel nails what about a french pedi? I'd go all out and get the lot lol

Hi Kim,I think a back massage,half leg and under arm wax,dark colour on one hand and french on other(mani not pedi)I say hands because I think these are harder than toes) plus the gel nails. I think you should have a friend or another employee have the eyelash tint and underarm wax because you need to see her application/steps.HTH

definatly get your friend or collegue to have something done, that why they can ask her things that you don't want to and also she may be abot more relaxed!

She is coming in tomorrow morning. I have asked her to do eyebrow tint, eyebrow wax and half leg wax on me, and gel nail extensions on my junior, and then paint them. She is also doing a removal on Natalies existing Acrylics.

For me, personally, I think massage is a hit or miss thing. You get some great massage therapists and also some awful. I didn't want the girl to think I was putting her through her paces but at the end of the day, I am!!! So may ask her to perform a massage on me also. At first when I spoke to her I didn't have enough time when it was convenient for both of us, which is why I am getting waxed and Nat is getting nails, but now I had a client change appointment, so I think I might call her tonight and ask if she could also do a massage. Or maybe ask her tomorrow and see how she copes with the last minute ness of it...after all she is a qualified therapist and will have clients coming in last minute asking for treatments etc. Thanks everyone. I am actually quite excited.

So. I had her in today.

She uses the PHD system which I was really intrigued about and we were both happy for her to provide her own equipment for this. I got a half leg wax...that stuff is amzing! I am often amazed by beauty products but i loved the idea of it. And it sure worked anyway, 15-20 mins later my half leg wax was done, very efficient, as a fussy client i would be pleased with my wax. i checked my legs then, and again now when i got home, no hairs left. no stickyness either which i am often left with. very pleased.

then on to eyebrow wax, again with phd but she used a mini spatula with, again pleased. the wax didnt feel hot at all on my skin, which i always worry about as sometimes it can get too hot for me. painless!!! she rips the strip v fast which i found less painful.

eyebrow tint - again perfect. very impressed and this was all completed within around 50 mins. Possibly less.

I then had gel nail extensions done. I have never had this done before so was intrigued again (usually get acrylic tips or sculpts) From a clients perspective, I was pleased. This is not her strong point which she explained to me at the time as the salon she worked in before don't do many nail enhancements. I feel she has the foundations there though, she took 1 hour 45 mins for it and believe me it was night and day from what I was used to getting done before. I thought it was normal to get your nail "roughed up" (excuse me if this is not correct terminolgy) with a 100 grit file before applying acrylic. (I was very naive when i employed the last girl, feel stupid now)

So I offered her the job, and she is starting on Saturday. i am very pleased!!!! x

you sound really chuffed and you should be pleased, because you picked the right trade test treatments you now have the right girl starting with you on saturday.
so you didnt ask her for a massage then?!! LOL.

no i didnt get a massage (massive regret as my back is blooming killing me and my remedy of this is just to *** the muscly bit which gets sore with my finger or a hair brush or something sharp and stabby LOL

she seems great, really enthusiastic which is what we need. esp when i found out the old therapist has been trying to poach my clients :evil::evil:
