Hi
I am new please be gentle!
I had some training the other day on St Tropex and this was taught by standing the client up in her thong and applying the tan!
Do you think this is a good way to do the sef tan as I would of thought that the client would not be best pleased standing there for about an hour with her pants on and nothing else.
I felt quite cold and very exposed when this was being done to me on the course.
There were 4 of us on the course and 1 of the girls had been doing waxing all day so couldn't have the treatment. I luckily was able to apply the tan on a client whilst the other 2 applied the tan to me.
Washed it off the next day and I have one leg that is quite nice and the other slightly darker and a miss match round the ankle.
Also when you apply the tan lotion afterwards do you buff over the whole body lightly using the mitt or do you brush all the lines out!!
It wasn't really clear on the training as the trainer was busy doing paperwork and putting the washing in!!

Just really after some advice
Many thanks

You're surely not talking about the hand applied cream tan are you?! I trained quite a few years ago but updated my training a week ago and it's certainly not the way St Tropez train people to apply the cream self-tan. It should be applied with the client laying on the couch, covered with towels.

Yes I was trained at The Carlton Institute in Windsor and thought it was really strange that the client would have to stand there practically naked for an hour while you dous her down and then apply the tan!
What do others think of this?????????

I trained at my local college using this and we were taught to apply to the client lying on the couch covered in towels and then move the towels about as needed to ensure client comfort.
We were also told not to buff with the mitt after unless the client is only looking for a lighter colour as it is more likely to cause it to become streaky and patchy. I'm may be completely wrong but thats what we were taught (about 3months ago). Most of us found that our tans were streaky and/or patchy and i think as with anything you just need to practice practice practice before you can expect very good results.
hth :)

I was trained by an actual St Tropez trainer (twice now!) rather than by a third party, and the standard method as per the training manual is laying down on a couch covered with towels.

As for the buffing, it won't remove the tan when done properly. You need to check the tan is dry, then use long gentle strokes to remove excess product so they don't go out streaky & to ensure the colour doesn't excessively transfer onto their clothing.

To be honest, as with any product, it's often far better to get your training from the actual product provider where possible rather than hear it second or third hand. St Tropez, like most other good quality fake tans, WILL give good even coverage & a good finish, but only when it's used in the way it was designed to be used.

Hmnnnnnnnn maybe I won't be going back there again for any more training then. Do you think this is right that they can train like that then surely this is not fair to the people who put their faith and money in them.
Thanks

I trained with St Tropez at Beauty Source in Nottingham quite some years ago and our trainer onthe day was (think ive got this name right) Judy Nake ? ? Anyway we were trained to apply the tan with the client laid down, covered in towels. After exfoliation. Starting at the face, working down the front of the body then turning the client to apply to the back. When lotion application was complete the client turned back over then you buff the front gently then get them to turn again and buff the back. I have always followed this procedure and never have any problems or complaints. I always buff. :)

Hi
Please can someone point me in the right direction.
I bought some St Tropez but I need to check the use by day can't see it anywhere though!

Sounds great, not,
i would be contacting them and asking them for my money back, you don't pay to be trained by someone who spends time doing paper work and washing,
she must have thought the 4 of you wouldn't notice.

I know of quite a few complaints about this training centre and incidents where people have had their money returned to them by having a genuine complaint,
and i agree the client should not be stood while the tan is applied, hth

You should be able to call or email st tropez and give them the batch numbers and they will be able to give you the best before date.
