Need some advice on an ebay purchase geeks please.:irked:

Purchased a camera which when I recieved , doesnt work.I also noticed they had charged me far too much postage.Have contacted the person , who says they checked it before they posted it out and it was working, and the reason for the excess postage was because theyve never sold something before, so didnt know what to do????

Ive done a search on ebay but cant find anything on there about recieving item and not working.Has this happened to any one else on here ?Do I except it was working?Where do I stand?:Oh and they also asked how I wanted to resolve the prob?Do I ask for a refund?rolleyes:
Thanks.xxx

Not sure but you may have to escelate a claim to ebay/paypal.

Ive justhad to escelate a claim as i ordered some boots back on 25th march and havnt got them, tried emailing the person 3 times but no reply.

Ive lost all faith in ebay and once this is sorted doubt very much i will use it again :irked:

Tell him you would like a refund if he refuses then leave back feedback and report it to ebay if it doesnt work then its not your fault its theirs xx

Ask for a full refund and return the item to the seller. If you have any problems then make a claim via e-bay :)

I would ask for a full refund, when/if this is recieved send the item back.

If the seller refuses a refund and you paid for the item through paypal file a complaint with them they will investigate, in my dealings with ebay they rarely want to know when there is a problem with an item but they are sure quick to take there fee's.

Hth and hope you get it sorted

Ok thanks peeps I will do that then, will let you know what they say.x

Down the side of the homepage in your ebay there is a link for dispute console, have you had a read up on that?

I would email the seller saying you are not happy and would like to give them the oportunity of refunding you, if they dont take you up then you have no choice but to lodge a claim through paypal.

Ive just checked my dispute to see if the seller has responded and guess what?...Hes refunded me:rolleyes:

Cool,at the end of the day theyve gotta cough up otherwise they know they will get bad feedback aint it.Theyve already left mine so Ive no worries there.
This is probly my third incedent now with ebayer, the other two got a bit shirtey about giving me a refund, but will see what this one says and let you know.
Ive looked at the dispute console, it says about items ..not as described..I sposse it would come under this as it said in working order..and its obviously not.!thanks.

Did you pay by paypal? If so, you will probably get a refund no problem. Paypal does tend to take the side of the buyer

I'm not convinced the feedback thing really works, if they say they have never sold anything before, then their feedback won't be very meaningful anyway and they probably won't care. But paypal is another matter, they will not tolerate a lack of co-operation from a seller, end of.

Yes I did pay by pay pal ZoZo.I did check their feedback to make sure it is the first thing theyve sold and it wasnt just an excuse for the excessive postage, it appears it is, and theyve just got feedback from stuff theyve brought in the past.

I have to say i have got some things from ebay and when i had a problem you have to ask ebay to look into a dispute.......its up to ebay if you get your payment back not the seller or you.....thats only if you do a dispute......i think ebay is not very good as some things they have for sale are the same if not more money than the shops.

If it was described as not working or faulty then you have no claim (you will be surprised how many put that)

You will get the refund minus the postage you dont get that back. Next time query the postage first before you bid or pay.

Is the seller willing to give you a refund due to it being faulty? was it packed well?

Try and sort it out with the seller first, then if they are not helpful you take it to a dispute via ebay.
x

It was described as in working order and was packed really well, although I thought they could of written handle with care on the envelope.

As you have already contacted the seller who has stated that it was checked before dispatch, you can raise a claim via Paypal and/or ebay to resolve your dispute. It can take paypal up to a month to review disputes (i have one in relation to an auction that finished on 26th Feb still continuing) but there is buyer protection for a reason. Go to the dispuute centre at ebay first and as others have already said, read through that.

HTH's

Before you raise a dispute within ebay/paypal, you are meant to try and resolve the issues between yourself and the seller first. The dispute is meant as a last resort, and also it takes quite a while to resolve.

Remember to keep all emails you receive as evidence.

My partner had the same issue with the postage costs and the seller refunded the difference without the need for a dispute.

Result guys, shes refunding me for the camera, but not the postage and then Im going to post it back to her as soon as Ive recieved it.
