Hay all,

Well im havin a few lil probs with my current gel . I love the brand and results price etc BUT my clients want more colour options and although you can mix my current gels , i just feel this is not a practicle option for me to have to keep doing regularly

So, i was thinking :o would it be a major NO NO for me to just continue to use my current brand for base and top but purchase the requested colour from somewhere else. I guess just untill all my current stock has gone - im still in training so im not charging very much therefor can not afford to just swap. Eventually i will convert to calgel or bio , but for now im trying to do the best for my budget and my clients

Also i would just like to gage your feelings on different brands. i.e akzentz, lechat, the edge, ibd - all soak off pls

Thanks x x x

You cant really mix brands as you cannot guarentee they will cure properly or could break down quickly. are you using them just for NNO's? get shellac its amazin & so much easier & quicker to apply :D only 12 colours just now, but anther 12 in august and sure I heard 60 by early 2011. But as you can layer shellac & cant/dont have to mix another bonus :D hth xx

From what i gather shellac isn't a gel product so depends what your client needs (cant wait to get my lamp and get on with it tho!!!) if they need an enhancement product/ length then stick with it. And no wouldn't ever mix products! no idea what the results would be, would still need a different lamp etc.... if you really don't have the colour choice then why not just polish over the gel for now???? they dont chip etc and you would still be giving the client the enhancement they require. Also you can use a gel top coat over polish if you let the polish dry properly... have a play, you wouldn't mix l&p products if you had any sense so why gels? shoot me down if im wrong HTH xx

I use OPI Axxium traditional gels for all of my sculpture work. I also use NSI & IBD colors to do colored tips and artwork over the top or as a layer with my OPI. I have never had an issue with curing, product break down or anything else. One of the reasons I chose OPI in the first place is the fact that they told me that their product was flexible enough to layer with other brands and cure with other lamps. Been doin it this way for 5 + years.

You wouldn't MIX different monomers and polymers, but there would be no problems in layering them and it is the same with gels.

You can layer any enhancement product over any other and they will stick to each other PROVIDED (in the case of gels) you used the right UV Lamps for the different gels you are using in the different layers. THAT is the thing you need to be careful with.

Hi

As geeg said you can layer other products. Personally I use brisa gel when im doing a french but I use the nsi gels when using colours as they have lots of dirrerent colours straight from the pot.

I use Brisa (absolutely love it) but for my colour gels I use Defianze and Light Elegance. I layer them as Gigi suggested and have no problems whatsoever :green:
They're extremely good value too with a wide range of colours.
