Hi,
I just wondered if anyone has had any joy with extending a nail with glitter and then putting a popit on top?

The reason why I ask I havent quite mastered putting glitter ends in the popit and the rest clear yet , and last night went to do my first rebalance on my sis inlaw with popits, last time she had pink & white , this time she wanted glitter on the ends, but it was a nightmare getting the popits to stay still even after 15 secs, I had all these air bubbles .

Later I did think to myself well maybe when you use glitter it actually leaves a ledge at the smile line, which makes it hard fot the popit to sit level...hope Im making sense..

Ive done it on one of my own nails tonight and had the same prob, should I just stick to using tips and not glitter.?

Hiyah
I use glitter tips which I make myself when I use popits and use clear acrylic for the overlay as I have also struggled they turn out ok and my clients love them.

I have done glitter tips with Popits using Brisa gel but I cannot see why the same rules would not apply - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

With gel, I apply the glitter to the tip and cure and then fill the Popit with gel and apply over the top.

If you apply your tip to the nail, do your tip with the L&P/glitter mix and then fill your Popit with the correct amount of L&P in the appropriate areas, I can't see a problem.

If you are getting bubbles, this is down to ratio IMO - if you get that right and lower the Popit onto the nail the product will spread over the nail evenly.

It is important to hold the Popit in place gently but firmly for 15 seconds and then leave the Popit in place until a full cure has taken place (tap the pipit with your brush handle, when you hear a 'click' it is ready.

For general Popit application, read this http://www.salongeek.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=856080

MMmm,I dont normally get air bubbles so Im wondering if I would be right in saying maybe I should put less acrylic at the free edge of the popit to the rest of it over glitter..hope this makes sense.:)

Make sure you don't over pat the product in the Popit....let the bead settle and just gently press into place.

The pressure will push the product into the right place providing you position the Popit at the correct angle and lower it slowly but firmly to the nail plate.

I hope this is making sense:eek:

I have asked Gigi at the Event what was the best way to do glitter tips with popits.

I have done that couple of times and i have to say - it was great))))

I apply small amount of glitter onto the tip and establish the smile line, I do that on all 10 nails first. Then i apply popits with either pink or clear)

I also tried this with opaque powders. If i use a perfomance tip, using small bead very dry apply it under the smile line and blend it well into zone 3, do all 10 nails and then popits with clear or pink or glitery mix) First maintenance does not require french fill)))

hope this helps:hug:

I glitter my tips using resin before i stick them on my nails (only because i make a right mess with my left hand!) and then popit as usual.

Thanks for your replies geeks, think I may of actually been doing the glitter too thick.

Funny thing is a friend of mine give my daughter some arty bits today , to make some christmassy bits.I was having a look through them tonight and I come across some green glitter.. ..let me have it!!

So I filed off me blue tip on my thumb , put some of the green glitter on, stuck a popit on top , and result!!You can find a photo in my album, under popits on myself.

Think I will be doing a full set on myself of these at the weekend :),with deeper smile lines too , dont think my daughter will be seeing her green glitter again though.:smack:
