Hi all, long time no speak,
So I am an aspiring nail tech but cannot start training until january, and so, practice on myself for the time being and I have came across some "valley" and "jigsaw" nail tips, can someone simply explain to me if these blend the same as a normal u shape tip?

thanks and sorry if this seems to be a dumb question!

They are not meant to be blended,
if you blend them you lose the shape hth

To be fair you should not be practising even on just yourself without any training, you are putting your self at risk of over exposure,
if you continue to do this there very well may be a day where you are unable to wear to nails and work with the products as you will become too sensitive to them and have an allergic reaction each time you come into contact with the products hth

yup, just as I thought LOL

I take it they are white tips, so you don't want to blend a white tip, or you will lose the lovely sharp smile line. xx

its not so much as practicing on myself but i do a set now n again if im going out

the nail tips i have seen and am thinking about buying are coloured valley tips, in all colours but wasnt sure of best technique for them. also, the jigsaw ones, think they are stunning.

has anyone any pics of these types of tips with an acrylic overlay?

thanks

Have a look through the gallery on here, you might find some

I have a set of french flame acrylic overlays in my album.
Tbh i didn't like using these tips and i wont be using them again. I found them difficult to apply.

I've never used the cut out tips, but I love coloured tips. I ordered quite a few in different colours and have enjoyed having a play with them. They didn't have a very "smiley" smile line, so I just cut it out with a pair of nail scissors. Worked a treat. xx

Hiya x

I have seen these tips....what will you do when it comes to re balancing them....? you'll lose the effect of them and so will end up soaking off at each rebalance...and soaking off too often isn't good for your nails.

I suppose you could just do a rebalance with P+W, losing the effect, but avoiding a soak off.

Or, if you did a cover pink on the nail when you put them on (as though you were going to do an extended nail bed but didn't actually extend it) but just put them on where you would normally, you could get away with rebalancing for a few times without losing the effect, as the cover pink would hide the natural free edge. This is what I do with my coloured tips and it works well.

Marion xx

I have used coloured, valley and jigsaw tips, I l&p over them to make re-balance easier, for most of the coloured ones i just use a natural tip unless the client wants to see a true colour from underneath.
