im renting a room in a hair salon, been there about 2 months now. recently i found out some of the girls having been going into my room while ive not been there and using my stuff! ive spoken to the manager there and she's said she will speak to them about it. i give everyone that works there 20% off treatments but im now thinking about stopping that, why should i not money off when they've been using my stuff with out permission?? has this ever happened to anyone else? what would you do?
thanks in advance

Aw thats bad form! Is there any chance you could lock the door when you leave or is it used for another purpose aswell? If so, lesson learned i.e. they cant be trusted and i would just lock it in future. If you stop giving discounts (even though they deserve it!) it might create a bad feeling with you and the girls and you dont want that either especially if they are recommending their clients go to you. I cant understand why anyone does that though!

Can you not ask for a lock to be put on your door?

yeah im going to try and get a lock sorted, it should be ok i think. thats a good point about the discount, thanks :)

I've had a simliar problem but it's not really a problem if they had just told me they were going to use my room.

The girl i rent from used my room for her and a few of her mates to have teeth whitening done. I wasn't too happy about it cause they didn't ask me. I know i rent from her so technically it's her room but I just thought it was a bit of an invasion really

I would be well p!ssed off. If you were renting a room off someone as a flat share and you weren't there all the time and your flatmate went into your room while you weren't there and use your things you'd be well mad.

Does your contract say the room is yours on certain days or just yours all the time and that's it? I'd defo try for a lock or have lockable cabinets if you can't get alock fitted. You shouldn't have to do that but that's what I'd do if it were me.

tht happened to me and first i got a lockable cupboard but then we had a Health and Safty visit and they insisted on a lock for when i wsn't there as "you cannot see who enters your room or handles your equipment and then there would be a high risk of contamination unknown to you!

so there! :)

Lock got fitted the next day!!

I agree with everyone. Get a lock on the door. It's a shame you can't trust the girls now. Using your stuff is technically theft. To them it may just be a bit of product here and there but thats your stock and over time that costs you money.
Good Luck x:)

thanks everyone. the rooms isn't used for anything else so hopefully i should be able to get a lock, im in 2moro so im going to speak to the manager then.

Or I know it is a pain but take your stuff home at the end of the day...

My contracts of employment state that hair staff cannot touch beauty equipment and beauty staff cannot touch hair equipment. Stuff used wrongly gets broken, thats why we (sadly) had to include that clause.
I would strip the cheeky theiving little moos of that 20% discount for sneakin about helping themselves.
